    Afternoon all.

Hope you are all well and dandy still.

pompey. I sort of had the same problem with Halifax. Was referred to the underwriter after I was accepted online. I must admit it was a bit embarresing when I went into the branch to open the account and this was told to me as the manager's daughter goes to the same school as my DD and I had abit of trouble and in the end got the account with a Visa debit card.

May not be popping in so much as I have been as we have a bit of a family crisis. To cut a long story short my OH sister, who has just had a baby, has stupidly got into drugs:eek:
Not the soft ones either and today her boyfriend took an overdose (OK in hospital at the moment)so a lot of things going on at the moment. Sorry to deepen the mood there but things are a bit hetic at the moment and this crisis has seemed to embroil everbody at the moment.

At the end of the day a debt is only money there are worse things out there.

    will keep you all posted.

    Hi.

Luckily the OH's sister has admitted she has a problem and after many tears has agreed she needs help. My OH works for the local Mind centre and has had training in Drug problems and has reffered her to a drug counseller. The SIL boyfriend is the problem and hopefully they will sort something out.

Her Mum and Dad are brilliant and,if it comes to it, they will have the baby until she sorts herself out.

The thing is my OH went to see them today and told them a few home truths and then the OD happened so she is feeling awful at the moment.

If told her not to feel like that and she seems ok but you never know.

Thanks for the message and i will try to catch up later as if my OH comes in and sees me typing this she will not be best pleased but it helps to share a burden and a problem. Thanks

Hallo All. I've been away for AGES. My dissertation is finally finished and handed in and i'm just waiting to sit my final exam.

I followed Martins templates and got £1698 back from First Direct!
I sent a request for redetermination for my CCJ in just before Easter. I didn't receive the notice of transfer of proceedings so I ended up paying £395 i didn't have over the last two months as I assumed that I missed the 14 day deadline after judgment.
However while i was away for my job the hearing date came through. The hearing was today in county court. All the cases were either same as mine or people chasing bank charges.
I felt really horrible before hand and broke down in tears. I felt so embarressed and silly but the Judge was lovely and sensible. He read my SAO and letter I provided. and I gave an updated SAO (which I was writing in bed at 6am)
He agreed with my assessment that my finances were to quote him "finely balanced" and gave judgement for £35 per month and moved the payment date to suit me too. He did say "there but for the grace of God" under his breath so I guess he has a brush with debt in his past?!
Anyway HSBC solicitors didn't bother turning up. They provided a letter stating that if judgment was reduced they would apply for a charging order. :( however they said that if payments are maintained regularly then they would not enforce it !!! and its in the court documents so I am v. v. happy.

Otherwise I have stuck with the DIY DMP as both CCCS and Payplan wanted to push for IVA as I had less than 100p/m to pay debts. however I have a bit more now per month to pay...
I have got Eggcard and Barclaycard agreed to reduced payments. Just have to sort out Northern Rock, Lloyds TSB and Intelligent Finance.

The other good news is that i will be getting a secondment transfer abroad next year. Which means I will be spending less money (as work will pay mortgage while I'm away) so I can pay off my debts quicker!!

Its brilliant as I was so desperate last time I was on the boards.
so moral is don't be afraid of going to court over debts....
And i have learned to stop being afraid. I am getting much better at opening the post!!!

    Hi guys,

Welcome to all the new DMPers, it's great to have you here. I've scanned the posts very quickly, so I'm sorry that I can't reply to everyone individually. A couple of things have stuck in my head though, so here goes.

Twitcher - welcome to your safe haven. Please feel free to offload and ask advice at anytime. My mum had serious money problems etc not so long ago and started to find the answers most nights at the bottle of a bottle, so I understand how easy it is to turn to it. Keep strong and come on here for a chat if it gets too much.

Dr J - BIG HUGGLES TO YOU! Sorry, didn't realise you were hugless :)

donna - that's so kind of you to share your story about your nephew, I'm sure it will give YM a lot of strength.

Dearest YM - I'm sorry to hear about your family problems. It sounds like you are providing fantastic support to everyone, but please make sure that someone is there for you (including us). Even in times of trouble you manage to come up with thought provoking statements. I'm thinking of you and your family at this time.

Hi to everyone else. I hope you are well.

They send you a nice little booklet welcoming you to the DMP, giving a bit of advice and enclosing the payment slip for you to make your first payment at the post office. They also send a Direct Debit form for you to fill out for the rest of the payments, if you want to pay that way.

Then they (just a few days after in my case) contact your creditors and suggest the payments. If they have any queries over your statements they may ring you to check.

    Nothing to worry about. ;)

If you get phone calls from creditors, just give your CCCS ref number and tell them you are starting in July.

YM, good luck with sorting things out. at least it may take your mind off your debts for a while :)

Thanks armani and smilealot for the hugs :)

Payplan have sent out offers to all our creditors and they think some will refuse and pass on to a collection agency. Would like some confirmation that these are easier to deal with than the banks themselves. If anyone has any relevant experiences I would be interested. It is all credit card debt by the way.

Have a good day all and dreamer999, I live quite near to Ipswich in East Anglia. It was you who said they lived in East Anglia wasn't it?
