Now that you are only half heartedly looking for a car whats the betting you will find something ideal (Hope you do). When i am not looking to buy i see loads that could fit the bill just from driving around. Soon as i need a car i will drive around and not see a thing.

    Hope all is well

    ym

    Hopefully! :D

The thing is we need a car to go and find a car!!! Even though we live in a "City" most of the cars (in our price bracket) are 15 to 30 miles away - got no idea what happens to everyone elses cars when they actually live here and want to sell  Maybe everyone else is rich and buys a brand new one every year!

You have probably done this but have you checked the local paper and also the for sale boards at the supermarkets?

I know nothing about cars and i brought my one off Ebay. Got lucky with mine so far but it is a bit daunting bidding on something that costs a few hundred(Mine was £1500) and i would not recommend this to everyone.

    Good luck.

    Hello everyone.

I feel really guilty that I haven't been on in so long. It's only been about a week but it seems ages.

I am desparately trying to catch up but I am way back on page 17 so I thought I would just say hello and then bury myself back into all the many posts.

No real news in Sweety world. HSBC are not accepting my lower payments so are going to transfer my debt to a DCA. I seem to push all my DMP stuff into a little cloud filled dreamy place in my head where I can coat it in glitter and lovely things and pretend that everything is alright. Not great financially but seems to work for my sanity!

Anyway... welcome to all the newbies.

Hope everyone is ok. I am going to find out whats going on with everyone now.

    Take care- Sweety

Yeah have been checking local papers and friday-ad continuously. Tried some other search web sites but every car was over 30 miles from us. Tried some traders but that's where the written off car was, another trader said no rust on the car when we rang - got there and found they weren't being honest about that so we weren't going wait and see what else they weren't honest about!

Just managed to get £5 credit off an insurance policy because they made an error and took 84p by unauthorised direct debit. When I complained I was told it would be refunded but apparently it was below the minimum refund allowed and no-one bothered to contact me and let me know! Bonus.

Pre-MSE I'd not even have bothered ringing over 84p!

Have decided to spend my bus ride home reading the OS book again and have brought it to work to re-read. May as well make use of the time and try and find a tip that I've missed/forgotten etc ;)

At the moment, every penny counts :D

yeah I ought to be doing some work :o

I bought the OS book, that's all. Bought that as in the evenings OH is on the computer doing his accounts so I thought it would be a portable MSE fix! Some good tips in there too that I missed on here, but lots of it is on the OS forum somewhere! ;)

Hello there feel so bad as have not been on for a couple of days ha ha :rotfl:
Well I have just spoken to people at CCCS and asked them about a million and one questions about the DMP so feel slightly reassured about that now...
The woman I spoke to said it should start on 1st July so there you go:rolleyes:

Hi all - try the library for DFW/money saving books - they have lots and the new OS book in mine which was a surprise. I personally wouldn't buy the OS if it's in the library as I found it great, but would have preferred not to have bought iyswim.

    Hi everyone

I know i'm probably being a bit thick but can I ask what the OS book is please ?????

No post for me today. I made £30 today selling some toys my children no longer play with (advertised on local notice board in our village). I'm going to pay it into my savings a/c tomorrow for a rainy day.

Newlywed Sorry to hear you still haven't got a car yet. Hopefully something will turn up soon.

ym Glad to hear you had a good day in the forest. I copied your idea and took the children to our local forest centre before we had the BBQ which OH cooked. Great day had by all.

toasti Great to hear everything is going to plan with CCCS at the moment. Long may it continue

Sweety Sorry to hear HSBC are not accepting DMP - hopefully DCA will accept

Valley How did it go at CAB?

eripmav Mercer's have taken over collections for my Barclaycard a/c but they haven't bought the debt. So far all my dealings with Mercers have been okay.
