    Hi Everyone:D

Just got back from doing the carboot, made about £40 today. Not great but beter than a swift kick up the bum!!!

Didn't have much stuff today though so surprised I even made that much to be honest. Still thats my petrol money for the month so still happy.

It's been glorious again today here, have even got a bit of a suntan now.

YM - Have a lovely day with your DS.

Dreamer - Enjoy your barbie and have a bounce on the castle for me!!

Sea - Hope you are not suffering too much with the sunburn, How did the fancy dress with the kids go hope you all had a ball!!:D

dlb - Nice to hear you are appreciated by the footie team. I run a junior football club and it's really hard work! Willing parents are an absolute godsend and it's nice to know you are valued by the club. Well Done you must help a lot and be very well thought of!:T

smiley - Enjoy the course, speak soon.

Dr J - Lovely to hear from you, hope all is well!

Hello everyone else! Has anyone heard from AMANI she hasn't been around for a bit, hope she's ok!

Thanks Sea. Pity we can't claim for the twelve pound ones as they seem fairly common.

teecee, we are all well thanks and whilst we have no official acceptances yet things are looking up on the share front but nothing definite on suspended shares.

Hope you are ok too smilealot. You will come through this a stronger person. Many of us older geezers have had to watch every penny in the past so know how you feel. I am having to watch them now having had to help my mum out of debt when I was young eg your age. So it could be worse as YM said a while ago. You don't expect to have to be in this situation in your 40's, 50's and 60's. Talk to you in the week.

    Hi everyone

Teecee Well done on the £40 :T . As my late grandad used to say "it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick" - bless him! As you say it's your petrol money plus you have decluttered.

Dr Jekyll Didn't realize you are also from East Anglia. :hello:

Well following my discussion with ym this morning we decided to take the children to our local forest centre and we had a great time. We had a BBQ when we got back so everyone is happy. There is enough food left for another one so hopefully the weather will be nice here tomorrow evening.

smile Hope you enjoy the course. Speak to you soon.

Think i'm gonna have another glass of wine

    Speak to you later.

  • Hi all
just a quick word of thanks for your kind words - they really help. Feeling a little better day, still want to kick myself up the butt for money wasting but must learn from it and move on (perhaps I should be called MWE money wasting expert!!)!! Will take the advice about cramming sounds good to me, seriously lacking motivation at the moment but sure I'll get there. Take care all - enjoy the good weather.
    love and hugs

Oh yes you can, you can claim any charge back wether it be £12 or £35.
Check out the bank charge thread, you can claim back late payment fees, returned direct debits, paid referal fees and lots more.
Takes a while to get your head round what you can and cant claim but when you think it only costs the banks appros £2 to stop a direct debit or sent a letter out regarding a late payment even £12 is UNLAWFUL!!!
    Claim every penny back.
They way i look at it is i may only need to claim one charge of £30 back off some of my creditors but this is 6 months payments from my dmp when they only get £5 a month.:T 6 months nearer to being debt free.:D

    Hi all, can I join?:)

Basically, I've been liaising with Payplan about a DMP, was told that I'd have to wait until the other half's IVA had gone through (don't know how true this is) until the ball can start rolling.

I sent letters to both of my creditors, paying token payments to both. Now, MBNA haven't replied to any of my letters, although cashing cheques. Barclay card on the other hand have passed on my details to a company called Mercers. They called up last week, I wasn't in. They called again this evening, literally around 1/2hr ago and told me that unless I pay off a significant fee, my details will be passed onto a bailiff and debt collections agency to recoup the monies. I told them that I'm actually sending in token payments to Barclay card (as advised to do so) but they're saying that they are still entitled to proceed with getting an agency.

Am I right in thinking that all the time I'm paying token payments, I'm ok or are Mercers right? I'm in quite a panic!

    Hello eripmav and Welcome.

Of course you can join just jump on in.
Haven't had any dealings i'm afraid with Mercers so cant offer any advice. It's really quiet on here tonight you may get a better response if you start a new thread asking about Mercers, that way you will be able to get help from the whole DFW forum and I' sure there will be others that can advise.

Just wanted to say Well Done on facing up to your debt and taking positive steps to deal with it. Please don't panic, keep posting and we will help/support in any way we can.

    Take Care

Forgot to say it sounds like bullying tactics to me on the part of Mercers. Baliffs can only enforce a debt with a court order and for that to happen a judge would have to be convinced that you were not making payments. Do not agree to pay anything to them and phone Payplan they will be able to advise you.
