Rayday you're definately not being selfish and you have every right to moan!! What a man - sorry I know you're still friends - but he is seriously taking the p!! You have been wonderful and this is the thanks - I think he needs a short sharp reality check!! Perhaps he could return the table or a few of the clothes and pay his way!! Take care.

hi all,
giddykipper, re the selling of your home....they cant make you do that.they can take you to court and get a charge put on your home but its only actioned if and when you decide to sell, they cant make you.re the wages....can you open an a/c with another bank to have wages paid in, so n/r become just another creditor?they are trying to bully you into paying them more and if you do, it could jepodise your dmp.if they take you to court, they will be awarded costs and prob get a charge on your house, but if your not thinking of moving for years then they cant do squat.the judge will look favourably on your dmp and prob keep the payments as they are, and if you get a ccj, you wont have to higher your payments so they wont get your money any quicker.its better for them to accept the dmp cos your payments could go up in future whereas a ccj keeps your payments the same even if your finances improve.anyway, nr are a fine one to talk about debts, with their history!!!!
rayday......have you been in touch with the csa and informed them about your ex?surely they should be able to pay you something whilst they are chasing him.250 is soo much to lose.you have my sympathies. xx oh and dont give him the dvd back, just for spite!!!

giddykipper wrote: »Hi all
Not been around for a couple of weeks as everything went quiet on the dmp front so I just enjoyed it whilst it lasted.
However, Northern Rock have reared their heads again and its not good news.
I spoke to a lady there who was very nice and helpful but basically this is how its looking:
They have advised me that my account is being passed onto the pre-legal team. They have basically said that if I cannot pay them £10 a month more than I am currently then they can either;
make a charge on my property,
go with a ccj,
have money taken from my wages before it even reaches me,
order me to sell my property
or
sell the debt on to another company.
Obviously, in order for me to pay them £10 per month I have to 'up' my payments to my other creditors too (however NR said I can make a 'discreet' arrangement with them direct so that I pay what I pay now via Payplan but then ring them once a month and make a payment on my debit card over the phone) ......... I dont want to do this as its deceitful to Payplan.
They have also said that they will need a review every 6 months - so twice a year, every year until the dmp is finished, they will want me to pay more (currently the dmp is over 30 yrs  ).
They have said as I'm single (seperated) and have no dependents, they expect me to get a second job (part time) in order to pay them more ...... I have just started with AQA but dont want to count my chickens until after my 30 questions review - who knows, I might get booted off.
I just dont know what to do! I may get a payrise in January (dont know until appraisal time mid-December) but even then, in order to up my payment to NR, I'll have to 'up' my overall payment, probably a lot more than I can afford.
Sorry for going on and on but have been in tears tonight, worried that work will find out, that they can force me to sell the house, that I'll end up in court.
Can anyone offer any advice on which way to turn?
Thanks
Jo
PS/ And I keep emailing Payplan through their 'new improved' site but everytime I do it just says an unexpected error occurred so I have no idea if they are receiving me or not!!
Well just in case anyone is interested (if they find themselves in a similar position) I have spoken with Payplan today and they have really put my mind at rest. I hardly slept last night but they've made me feel sooo much better.
Basically NR cannot take wages directly from my employer, they cannot force me to sell my house (yes they can put a charge on it but can't force me to downsize) and they shouldn't be suggesting that I get a second job so that I can pay them more! (like I say I've applied with AQA because obviously I want to get it paid off quicker but they can't force me to get another job).
Payplan have told me that a CCJ or a Charge on the property may well ultimately work in my favour anyhow as then the amount I pay them is fixed by a Judge and they cannot then 'hound' me for extra payments all the time.
She said they have a team of legal experts who will hold my hand every step of the way and will help out with any form filling in etc etc.
Cant tell you what a relief it's been. They've told me not to worry about it and that NR are just trying to put the frighteners on me - apparently they're quite notorious for it!!
Just thought I'd share!

Hi Giddy - just wanted to say your post made me feel a lot better. I know it was really horrible for you going through that - but its good to know that they can't do all the terrible things they threaten. My husband is just starting out on his DMP and up to now the creditors have been okay - but it was always worrying me if one turned nasty - and its good to hear someone's experience. Thanks for sharing it.0

Glad it helped Amy ....... if you have any questions - just yell.

Hi Giddy sorry I missed your post but I am glad you have some peace of mind. Its good of you to share it too. Years ago at school I did work experience for a week in a bank and I hated there I should have remembered how cut throat and nasty it was then maybe I wouldn't owe so much now! You reminded me of it with the bullying you are getting.
Take care

Thanks Rayday ........ the lady last night actually tried to make out she was doing me a favour by telling me all this ....... not scaring me half to death!
I hope you can do something about your situation. I dont really know much about it but isnt there something you can claim from the Government so that they then have to go after your ex for payment? At least that way you dont lose out, especially at this time of year!

Morning all,
Not been around much lately, work has been manic and I have been a bit poorly so not had the energy to even log on. I have a feeling things are just catching up with me.
I hope everyone is well and looking forward to Christmas.
Rayday - I am sorry to hear about your ex, not what you need. I hope that you manage to sort something out.
All very quiet on the debt side, I haven't heard a thing from anyone for ages. Not even a missed phonecall - to be honest I am starting to get slightly worried now as think I might get bombarded by them sooner or later???
Right just off to start my lovely 2+ hour commute....oh joy!!
Take care xx0
