    Hi everyone!

Not been around for about a week due to hubby being off work, hes gone back and I am let loose again!

Hope everyone has been OK will try to catch up, just sitting waiting for the postie this end - see what seasonal good tidings he brings!

Like the avator Mrs Dane, laughed at convo with yellow monkey and as I did the rag and bone van went by singing "any old iron" - Got to love Yorkshire!
  • Hi all

Hope everyone is well. Happy Christmas!

Not been on for a while as things have been all quiet on the DMP front.

This month is my 6th monthly payment. For new DMPers, my experience with my creditors has been as follows...
Not heard a peep from Argos Loans since starting the DMP but kept them in the loop and made token payments before that.
Sky Credit Card statement shows my DMP payment as my minimum payment and most interest stopped.
Barclays Loan and overdraft turned down my DMP offer, defaulted me, and said would pass my accounts to their Debt Collection Dept who would accept the offer but not a word since.

Had CCCS review last week and am able to put my payment up £30 a month which is handy.

    A couple of things...
Belatedly, I am getting a couple of decent size bonuses at work in the next couple of months.
I want to use some of this to clear my debts...and think will have enough to pay off credit card or Bank overdraft....which one is better to clear? Will it have any improvement on my rather sorry credit rating?
My only concern with using the money for debt clearance is that it is not treating creditors equally, and they may assume I will have this much available every month....wishful thinking!!!

Also, I am on a fixed rate mortgage that runs out early in 2009. I am worried about what happens then with regards to getting a new fixed rate mortgage as my credit rating will still be poorly, Anyone got any experience of this?

    Thanks everyone

  • hi all,
pompey....id keep the bonuses in a savings a/c for a while in case you have unexpected bills and creditors sometimes offer huge discounted full and final amounts when you have been paying them for a long time to get you off their books.
re the mortgage...we wrer offered various choices when our discounted rate finished with the same bank , but you may have trouble if you apply elsewhere as they all do credit checks, and the word is that they are all getting nervous about lending cos of the economy and the northern rock fiasco.think you will be ok if you stick with your present bank cos they know your history with them.2009 is a long way off though....you could win the lottery be4 then. xx
    all the best.ilgd x
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

  • Hi all

Not been around for a couple of weeks as everything went quiet on the dmp front so I just enjoyed it whilst it lasted.

However, Northern Rock have reared their heads again and its not good news.

I spoke to a lady there who was very nice and helpful but basically this is how its looking:

    They have advised me that my account is being passed onto the pre-legal team. They have basically said that if I cannot pay them £10 a month more than I am currently then they can either;

make a charge on my property,
    go with a ccj,
have money taken from my wages before it even reaches me,
order me to sell my property
    or
sell the debt on to another company.

Obviously, in order for me to pay them £10 per month I have to 'up' my payments to my other creditors too (however NR said I can make a 'discreet' arrangement with them direct so that I pay what I pay now via Payplan but then ring them once a month and make a payment on my debit card over the phone) ......... I dont want to do this as its deceitful to Payplan.

They have also said that they will need a review every 6 months - so twice a year, every year until the dmp is finished, they will want me to pay more (currently the dmp is over 30 yrs  ).

They have said as I'm single (seperated) and have no dependents, they expect me to get a second job (part time) in order to pay them more ...... I have just started with AQA but dont want to count my chickens until after my 30 questions review - who knows, I might get booted off.

I just dont know what to do! I may get a payrise in January (dont know until appraisal time mid-December) but even then, in order to up my payment to NR, I'll have to 'up' my overall payment, probably a lot more than I can afford.

Sorry for going on and on but have been in tears tonight, worried that work will find out, that they can force me to sell the house, that I'll end up in court.

Can anyone offer any advice on which way to turn?

    Thanks

    Jo

PS/ And I keep emailing Payplan through their 'new improved' site but everytime I do it just says an unexpected error occurred so I have no idea if they are receiving me or not!!

Hi just a quick one, hope someone can help

Well I have 11 creditors of which about 4 of them are for small amounts ie 300 - 600 pounds.

I am on a dmp and was wondering if I had and money gifts from parents this month if I should make additional payments to try and clear them, I know you are supposed to make one payment to CCCS but was thinking it would be nice to clear a few of the smaller debts then all the money I send would clear of the big ones ?
Any views? forgive me if this seems a daft question but not sure what to do?

Ie make extra payment to CCCS or hit one of the smaller debts direct ?

    Hi xgingerx,

Thats a tough one. I am on a DMP and last year had a small bonus. It was enough to pay off my smallest creditor in total, and would therefore have given me an extra £26.00 a month of my DMP amount to share amongst the rest. My DMP company were absolutely and completely against this and said it would put my DMP at risk and that the larger creditors would see this as preferential treatment and it could lead to some of them taking further action.

In the end I put it in the bank whilst I deliberated about it and thought instead it may come in handy for a rainy day - which came two months later when my Dad died unexpectedly, so I had it when I needed it!

I understand your urge to do this though - it would feel great to clear one of them in total and reduce the amount of creditors you have - but beware, you may need CCCS on your side at some point so tread with care!

  • Well its been a while - but thought I'd pop in and say hi:santa2: ! Have been busy quitting smoking and am pleased to announce its almost 6 months since my last puff!!
All quiet (for now) on the dmp front - HSBC still being a pain but online banking today no sign of the loan so its finally moved somewhere (?) its only took them 9 months to acknowledge my dmp and each month they've gone for the loan and each month they've charged me for bouncing the payment what a lovely helpful bank - as a result my (unauthorised) o/d currently at £50  !!
Hope all is well with you all. Will spend a few weeks catching up with the thread now!
    love and hugs

    hi all
Just paid month 7 on dmp with cccs.
Some creditors still charging interest i have contacted cccs whom have written to them again about this.
I tried to speak with one creditor about this but they just passed me from one dept to another and then said sorry can not speak with you will only deal with cccs.
Things are hard on plan but coping, obviously children will not get much for xmas this year. Started Plan in June so not had much time to save up funds but have got them a little few things everyweek.
Is everyone else with children finding this a tough time on dmp at xmas time?
my daughter who is 12 is undertanding about this but my son is 8 understands about money a little but not to the extend of my daughter.
Obviously you try and go without yourself and i am trying to not buy clothes with allowance or use social funds and cut down food shopping. I know at least they do understand the meaning of christmas and family will also buy them things.
sorry to ramble i am finding it hard lately other stuff going on as well, but onwards and upwards. This dmp stuff makes you a fighter.
    take care all
    bye for now x
  • Hi AMANI,
I'm not brand new to the site nor the thread: joined in about 2 months ago. I've been on a DMP for almost 3 years and have quite a few years more to go :D.

Oh dear guess I can hopefully burden you all with my woes.

Last night my ex popped round to lend us a DVD very nice, then said the real reason he came was to say we would not be paid this month or for the forseeable future.

I am kinda peeved I know he has not worked since his accident but I have helped him in all this time, took him out etc while he brought a new wardrobe (all designer clothes £50 a hoody! and jeans round the same price!) assembled his new table with him at £600 a go various money spent decorating and his luxury gym membership at £50 a month. Thats what kind of grates me all that spending and now he won't give me £200 a month which is essential to our living and this month is the first I will miss. Also he has not got our girls anything at all, not even a selection pack.

I have no idea what we are going to do we have about £450 a month after direct debits and DMP payments to live on for food, clothes, all those things that go into family life, petrol etc and now that is going to be cut to £250.

Anyway that is my selfish moan and I will spend the morning now working out cut backs - ho ho ho Merry Christmas!

Blue Panther gowd knows how many years I will be plaguing everyone got a feeling the number will only go up though lol!
