Dmp Mutal Support Thread (Part Two)

Hi everyone!
Can you tell me if i should get letters from all my creditors saying that they will accept my DMP as all I have had so far are a few default notices and letters telling me that I haven't made a payment last month (which i knowof course) and also lots of phone calls (which i don't answer!). I made my first payment to CCCS on 1st october so my creditors should be getting their first reduced pyt soon but was just wondering if i should get confirmation.
Thanks for any advice.
I agree with you SortingIt that the first payday in a DMP is so much easier but i am finding it quite hard to watch the pennies and to realise that i don't have any credit cards to fall back on - but it is so much less stressful than juggling everything!!Official DFW Nerd Club Member no 694

Hi Weemac - not everyone acknowledges that they have accepted the DMP.
The catalogue didn't - just put minimum deferred on my statements.
Mint loan didn't - just put payment arrangement on my credit report
Mint CC didn't - just defaulted me then stopped interest after 4 months
First Direct - wrote to me and accepted before even getting first payment
GE Money - wrote to refuse it, then when they got second payment wrote to accept and acknowledge they would stop interest.
So it's a case of some and some - basically if they stop interest and charges then you can assume they are ok with it for the time beingworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi Sagaris
I was so relieved to hear you didn't get nasty phone calls - as I think some people have had some rough experiences. My OH has drawn up a list of his debts (we both had a cry when we realised the full horror) and he is ringing the CCCS tonight - it is a huge relief he is doing something positive about it after all this time (he managed to hide it all from me for years for fear of me leaving him - what an idiot) but I have also been getting scared about what the creditors would be like. You have made me feel a whole lot better. I know I will end up being the one writing to everyone for him, I just didn't want to start being scared of the replies coming back.
Thanks

Aww Amy :grouphug: In 3/4 months time you'll be looking back and wondering what the heck you were worrying about ... you're doing all the right things and your OH is brave for coming clean about it, and is so lucky to have someone as supportive as yourself.
Hope it all goes well - keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!!!0 -

Hi
For those of you just starting on the debt free journey. It may seem a long way off. For me it is another 7 years but passed a small milestone today. My debt has just crept under the 27k mark. Not by much but i can see progress. So it may seem a long way off but everyday you get nearer to your goal.
Good luck to you all.
