  • Where I work we have plans in place to allow time re the postal strikes as our customers have deadline dates to respond to us. I would hope the banking industry would too although I expect they want you to go to a local branch and pay instead.

    Hi all

I posted a previous post under the main "Debt Free Wannabe" and I won't bore you with the details but the main advice was for my OH to get a DMP and having checked out the CCCS website it seems the best way forward.

However, looking back on some of your posts you all seem to be having a bit of a nightmare with creditors. We have not defaulted on any payments (yet!) but when they find out there is a DMP in place do the creditors start getting nasty? I really don't know if I am up to bullying tactics - the stress of finding out the problem even existed (again) has been enough to last me a long while!

    Thanks

They obviously do protest but with someone like the CCCS behind you at least you can refer them on. It will be much easier than doing it alone but if it is the best way forward for you then sadly it is something you are going to have to put up. They are not allowed to bother you too much and you can request it is in writing only. I started my DMP before I had missed any payments like you when I realised we had to do something and I don't regret it going the way I was it would have been another secured loan and risking the security of my home.

I didn't have any nasty calls or bullying from creditors. Most were nice - one kept ringing but only to ask for the missed payment and each time I told them about the DMP and the reference number and they would still ring back next day.

I think it depends on the creditors.

I need a good cry so I am picking on you guys!

I had to put a cowbosh on our mortgage today the underwriters were not happy with my id and there was nothing more I could do, so no remortgage for now which means I have to stay at my job longer and put up with rising interest rates :(

Gas man has just left and told me that I am living with a time bomb our boiler is not safe, apparently they have blow out points for hot water and steam to go and ours has been capped off so it would blow in my daughters bedroom. Apparently it has over 12 joint and pipe leads the casing is badly coroded, even the gas pipe leading to the house is unsecure.

I am literally so upset apparently it will cost over £2000 and mean a new boiler there is nothing they can do to make this one safe and he has advised me not to use it at all.

I know he is a plumber to be trusted got him through reputation, and truth be it I knew the boiler was a mess the casing hanging off, the pipes were leaky and they seemed all over the place. But I feel like I have been punched in the face and want to hide!

Sorry for yakking your ears off

  • ray.....so sorry, always happens just when you thought it was safe to crawl back out.is there any way at all that you wrangle a new boiler, from anywhere???they make you feel worse when they mention about fumes and stuff as well.britgas once condemmed our fire, just cos the bl**dy air vent was 5 mm smaller than it should have been, and best about it, they had installed it the prev year!!
also makes you feel guilty when they mention the harm to the kids.
sorry about the mortgage, think with all the american stuff just gone, they are cracking down.
god, i must be doing a really great job of cheering you up.!!am sorry.

    Thanks Mrs Dane!

Suspicion is healthy with children lol - we will go for the new boiler in my heart of hearts I have never been happy with it and you can't risk life, risk everything else not life and I always moan the house is cold so while he is here bung an extra rad in what is more expense hey! We were goign to get double glazing to warm the house up but best to not risk the house exploding apparently with no blow out the whole boiler would go!

You are a brick thanks for replying and sorry for the down is me sob speech!

  • oh Rayday it never rains eh?
if you do get a new system you can look forward to much lower bills tho' - small consolation when theres a big expense in your face. I totally understand.

I'm stuck too with rising interest rates which is not helping with the DMP - We have deadline to get the house finished and on market for christmas time so we can split. Its not helping the DMP that the interest rates move and my mortgage payments keep going up and up and up......
