  • Hi all,

Hope everyone is well this weekend.

I had my call from payplan yesterday afternoon. All went well and I plan to start my dmp from 15th Nov onwards!!

The lady I spoke to was very helpful and answered all questions however there were a couple of things that I forgot about and wondered if anyone could help.

She mentioned just sending token payments to creditors from now on which is fine but I do have a large amount of surplus cash after I have paid my outgoings. Obviously not enough to pay all my creditors but certainly several hundred pounds and she advised me only to pay them £1, £5 or £10 no more. I feel slightly bad about sending this small amount when I do have the money to pay more. Any advice?

Also she said that I would receive an email etc re logging on to their sight - how long does this take? Haven't had anything yet. I know they must be busy so I am hoping that it will be done Monday.

I also asked her about extra payments as sometimes I have projects at work which involve overtime and can be anything around an extra £500 in my pay - unfortunately not regularly enough!!! She advised that because it is not regular every month or even every 2 months that it could not be included. I was advised that it was up to me what I did with it, save it, spend it etc but she said if I wanted to save it over a period of time that I could give it to them to distribute pro rata to all my creditors fairly when I have a large sum so that is something to think about.

Anyhow, just wanted to post and let you know. I am feeling very positive - hopefully early new year I will be settled and know exactly where I stand with creditors.

Oh - she also went through different creditors and how through customer feedback they react and contact customers. Scary but also reassuring as she had some helpful hints of what they would say and what to ignore.

Sorry if I have rambled on.....

Take care and have a good weekend!

    Karen xx

    Hi all
I'm currently waiting for my DMP forms from CCCS, but think that it might take a while longer because of the postal strike!
In the meantime, I do however have payments due and wanted to write to them to tell them I have approached the CCCS and am in the process of setting up a DMP and offer them a token payment. Does anyone have a template of a letter to do this? I understand you get the templates in the pack but I am still waiting and didn't want to not contact or say the wrong thing to my creditors.
    Wondered if anyone could help?
    Many Thanks
    Emmey

  • Hi Emmey,

Hope you get your pack from CCCS soon - postal strike is a nightmare!
Sorry I can't be of help re token payments, I have the same problem myself at the minute. I am sure someone with some experience will be along shortly to help. x
  • hi all,
dreamer...my citi debts been sold to cabot as well.they are charging more interest than citi!!have wrote to ask them to stop, as i only pay £5 per month and the interest is £15 so if they keep on theres no point and to take me to court.they wanted £42 a month and i said they would be lucky as i had 13 creditors and £69 to share between them.am so mad that they can buy a debt for peanuts then charge interest, so i wrote instead of foning, so will see.only thing is the bl**dy postal strike now.was slow before ,but will take forever now!
have had loads of calls from marshall ward and woman said to ring cccs again and tell them i was getting unwanted calls, but am sick of telling them that cccs will not deal with m/w directly but they have received my payments from gen,cred.co.(who cccs pay)so cant see why they are being such a pain.dh hates all the calls and keeps asking how much i owe.he thinks im not sorting it out and if its a complicated process ,he doesnt want to know.if i could afford to pay them ,i would.in hindsight, i think i would have made a sep arrangement with m/w, if id known that cccs wouldnt pay them direct like they do all the rest, cos m/w would have accepted the same payment and they wouldnt be hassling me.
dreamer...what did you say to cabot on fone to make them stop the interest cos i might fone them to test the water??

anyway, hope you are all well.must go to my chores!!!
    love ilgd xx

There are template letters on the national debt helpline that maybe you could use and edit a bit to fit your needs, you know see the language sort of thing to use.

Postal strike is a pain in the erm bottom!
  • btw, emmey...you could try www.nationaldebtline.co.uk as they have loads of diff template letters.very good site.

I don't have my CCCS template letter here but it said something along the lines of:-

I am unable to make full payments because (reason you are going on a DMP). I am currently contacting CCCS with regard to my financial difficulties and arranging to go on a Debt Management Plan (which is due to start in xxx month). When I have reference number details for CCCS, I will pass these on to you.

In the meantime, I enclose a cheque for £5 (or whatever sum you want) as a token payment for this month.

Think it was something along those lines - and I sent that to anyone bothering me before my DMP start was decided on - so left out that bit about which month ;)

And my reason for going on the DMP was "overreached with credit" - as I couldn't really put that when I was struggling making payments they all unhelpfully increased the interest rates on my cards by about 10% APR!!!

Hey daney girl thats a damn good idea!

Is there any chance you could ask CCCS to take MW out of equation and like you said deal with it yourself, just a thought!
  • just to let you know re the m/w saga.....:j :j
just finished foning them and cccs....ever tried wading through treacle!!!!!
foned cccs..they said they dont pay m/w direct.said to fone m/w and ask for a letter with their details.
foned m/w.....told that must pay them direct cos was taling too long to get from gen.cred. to m/w.i explained all AGAIN:mad: by which time i was losing loads on fone dosh..not to mention the will to live:rolleyes: m/w man said he had loads of cccs ppl who paid m/w direct and gave me a/c and sort code.
rang cccs again...was cut off after being transferred(takes ages to reel all your details off to make sure you are you)
rang cccs again...(hope you are paying attention at the back, ill be asking questions later:D )
so....finally....through to right dept.lovely woman said ...YES, they cwill pay m/w direct and had been able to for ages, when she looked on comp, so god knows who i had spoken to half an hour before:mad: ...(i should work there, i think!!!)
so they are going to pay m/w and we all live happily ever after:D

isnt it funny how a little thing like an a/c being sorted out can feel like you conquered everest and won the lottery at the same time:rotfl: and i still have the debt:confused: but im sooo relieved.
just got cabot to agree to stop interest now.:D
damn that postal strike!!!striking cos they only got offered a 2.5% rise and later working times!!shame for them, i say!!police and nurse didnt get offered that much ,and they cant argue what shifts they want.bet loads of ppl would swop the posties and jump at the chance of their job.no wonder the royal mail going down the pan.
    hope no-one on heres a postie btw:o
so now youre up to date:T

    That's good news ilgd.

I only have one charging interest (although a third of what it was) so sent them an email saying - you are the only ones charging - any chance of it stopping so I can pay my debt faster. Reply was no. :(
