  • newlywed......if you arent afraid of a ccj...id send the natdebt temp letter saying ...stop the interest or take mew to court cos if it goes to court ,they will have to stop the interest and usually the judge will side with you and let you pay the same as now.tell them if it goes to court, they will get their costs but wont have any chance of an increased payment in future enabling them to get their money quicker, cos a ccj means you can just set up a standing order to them and pay the same amount forever and they cant do anything.if they agree to stop interest, the debts paid quicker and you will increase your payment in time, whereas at the mo, they are profiting from your financial problems which could be illegal, but at best is downright nasty.
People bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with :)

I feel like a spoilt child today went to dentist fine and come home in pain! Damn him for finding a cavity that was not bothering me in the slightest - my ear itches and I can't feel it to scratch - dental anthisetics are like c-section ones they wear off first where you need them!

And postal people are lazy sods, how many of us work and do things not mentioned in your contract but you want wages and its important! Grrr!

Hey all, thanks for your advice re what to say in my letters - those ones on nationaldebtline look good too. I have done my letters today (forced myself to sit down and get it sorted), offering everyone a token payment of £5 each for the rest of the month. Leaves me with about £80 for the rest of the month.

I'm finding it difficult to give up stupid little habits, like buying Coke or magazines. It seems so blimmin stupid! I hope I can retrain my habits...
I wanted to buy some make up today but it was £11... normally I've always put that sort of thing on credit cards but now it's like...well there's your money, it's for you to eat, if you spend it on rubbish you don't need you don't eat! Hmmm. This is going to be a long journey...

Anyway, excuse my rambling, just glad to be getting it sorted

It does get easier - honest. I had all that problem too - in fact still get it a bit. I would usually buy Clinique face stuff as I have really sensitive skin but now I'm running out and know I'd need about £45 for the bits I want so I'm hunting through all the trial size bits that I usually save for holidays (can't afford them anyway :rotfl:)

Magazines - I used to spend £25 a month on those . Just got myself a 3 issues for £3 subscription to Good Food - that and the 42p weekly tv listsings mag is my magazine allowance, although I may continue the Good Food subscription as then I have no excuse for looking at the magazine racks ;)

With the magzines - mine were mostly craft ones and I made myself go through them all and cut out the articles I thought I might keep and put them in a file. When I realised how much extra adverts etc there was, how little I actually wanted, and how I now have projects to keep me going till I'm 100 - I stopped :D

  • Morning all,

It is hard changing your lifestyle but at least with this lifestyle we can hopefully see an end to all this debt! Silly as I sound I can't wait to make my first payment to payplan in November. If only this postal strike wasn't on....worried all my docs are going to vanish into thin air! May send it registered post for a little peace of mind.

Hope everyone is having a good morning xx

I am holding back posting till the weekend really because like you I feel things have more opportunity to get lost.

Recorded delivery sounds good not much more either to pay, if its a pre paid envelope it costs you even less too.
  • Good idea - think I will leave it til the weekend and pop to the post office.

Quick question for anyone with payplan - when speaking to lady on Friday she mentioned that I would receive an email with log in details and I could access site which has a lot of helpful information. I have not received this email from them - does this happen once you return all the signed documentation?? Just concerned they don't have it down properly. Stupidly forgot all my info so can't phone them from work today!
  • Another damn postal strike on Monday .... ARGH!!!!!

My admin has gone into turmoil ... I wonder if people will receive their bills and so on in time to pay them before due dates and whether they'll make allowances for it... hmmm.
