Thanks xx
This was the link companies use as a guideline will try to find the topic but if not will you post it for me - thanks

Hi all -
I guess this thread might be a time to introduce myself - I think I had my LBM as you put it today, decided enough is enough, my debt is only getting worse, I can't seem to get any credit to consolidate it (which I guess is a bad idea anyway) so filled out the details with CCCS who recommend a debt management plan, so I filled out my details.
I'm a bit nervous about all of it, I know the debt itself is scary but sorting it out is quite scary as well! How long does the pack take to come through and everything set up? Does anyone have the same creditors as me, were they helpful - AA (CC), Egg (CC & Loan), Sainsburys (CC), Barclays (OD), Alliance & Leicester (OD), Marbles (CC), Student Loans Company/Honours Student Loans (Loan)?
Look forward to your comments and hopefully getting the debt sorted once and for all.

Welcome Emmey. Probably take a month before your first payment is taken but pack should arrive very shortly if they are as quick as Payplan (the other debt co.). Banks are 95% helpful in my case at least but one or two people can try to pressurise you. Give them your CSSS ref. no when you get it as they seem happier once they can confirm you are with them. You will get computer generated letters of which some will say you are likely to be defaulted and later will say you are defaulted. Mostly they can be ignored whilst you pay regularly to CSSS and they in turn passon your payments to creditors usually some days after you have paid.
You will feel a lot better once you have it all set up. you can ask banks to only contact you by letter if you don't fancy ph. calls. Also, if you have a current account which is in the same bank as one of your creditors they can remove money from your acc. to pay off your debt. The ans. is to open an acc. in a bank where you have no debt. Hope that helps and good luck.0 -
DrJekyll - Thanks for your reply and support. I've applied for a clean current account with a bank i haven't been with before, so hopefully I can start afresh and use that one for the budget & DMP payments. What happens with the payments in between waiting to set up the DMP?0

I have dealt with Sainsburys bank they tend to pass on to there DCA further down the line Blair Oliver & Scott who are very reasonable really.
I think some people write a letter to say they are having difficulties and offer a token payment while the plan is set up - I would seek advice from the CCCS and try to make sure its not more than on the DMP - I did my own DMP and sent a pound.0 -
Emmey,
As rayday2 says, it is sensible to pay a small token payment eg between 1 and 5 pounds so that you can say you are showing willing to pay something. Include your CSSS ref no and say why you are paying it. CSSS will have an example letter that you can use. You should get a case worker whom you can ask questions of. Ask away if you have more questions as there are several on here who have been through your situation already. It does help to share as it is very worrying at first. One last thing. I have learned that the banks are poorly organised with one dept. knowing your situation or part of it and another dept being totally clueless. So when and if they ring you bear that in mind.0 -
Hi guys, this is literally a flying visit as v busy and needed to check something on another forum (why am I feeling guilty and making excuses - ha ha!).
Just wanted to wish my beloved YM well. I remember back to the early days of this forum when YM joined us and he's done so well financially and personally - such an inspiration to us all. He's provided so much advice, support and general cheeriness to so many people. Like him, as you've probably noticed, I also decided to take a break, as have many of the "founding members" (that sounds so weird!) like Teecee, Sea, Kelly and Ex-Spendaholic. I have no doubt however that all the newbies will be well looked after by the other fantastic people on here (too many to mention!).
Best of luck to everyone and speak soon!
