  • Thanks guys :)

Nope you don't sound mad at all sortingit ... its a big step and you're taking control of your finances ... it is something to be excited about (well i think so anyway - after burying my head in the sand for years once I finally found a solution with a DMP I was over the moon!) :)
  • hi all,
is it me or is this site really slow today???
on the sub of extra repayments, i agree with ray.the trouble with paying extra is, they will think that will be the norm and that you can afford more than you are letting on and its the downward slope to trouble.best to keep it in an emergency fund, cos no credit means you may need extra cash further down the road, then if you have no dosh ,you will have to cut the dmp payments for a while, and so on.....
have had m/ward letter and is getting me down now.only one that depts dont talk to each other. one says fine and accepts.another sends arrears letters and gets stroppy.had a right cow last time!!!if i could pay the arrears i would, and thats why im on a dmp!!! :wall: then these comps wonder why you never contact them:mad: found a free(for me)no to ring them ,but after holding for 15 mins, i thought stuff this for a game of soldiers.even a dca would be better than them:p
    anyway, rant over.
hope you are all advancing to debtfree status with less hurdles than me.
    love ilgd xx

  • 'lo. I've opened a basic account at lloyds TSB so i can do my day to day without using overdraft. I STILL haven't tackled the letter mountain
i did reduce my DIY DMP payments going out this month to a token £1 until i get it all sorted. the phonecalls started again last night so I am doing my SOA again tonight first(as mortgage gone up) then tackling Payplan tomorrow.

  • Hello,

Just wanted to post for an update and for some sad reason I am excited?? I had a telephone call at lunchtime from payplay. A very nice lady who had been going through my budget and told me I had missed important things and that she has recalculated to ensure I cover all my needs. Very nice and then told me that she has booked me an appointment with my caseworker for 12:30 Friday lunctime to go through everything. I am so pleased and feel very positive right now!

She has worked out that I should pay £787 towards my debts which is slightly less than I had worked out but in all honestly more managable which is what these DMP's are all about aren't they??

Anyway, just wanted to update/share my news. Also was wondering if I could officially be added to the board? Something tells me that I am going to be posting here a lot! xx

You are right it has to be manageable these are early days of learning to live without credit, bit tricky at first but very good feeling when you get into it!

Glad to hear you so cheerful sounding you have been so anxious you deserve to feel the relief now!
  • Hi folks,
I've been on a DMP with CCCS since Feb this year and one of my creditors, MBNA contacted me to offer me a settlement figure (£4700 compared to £12200) thay said that if i didn't either accept the figure or pay them an extra £17 per month on top of what CCCS pay them they'll sell the debt on to a collection agency. I rang CCCS and they advised me not to pay any extra as all creditors need to be treated equally. Also I don't have the 4.7K to pay them anyway.
What's likely to happen now? Nationwide did this back in April and their agency (KPR) said they have accepted the reduced payments until December this year is thet the norm or should I be careful who I answer the front door to after December?
What does the law say about people coming round your house, do you have to let them in or can they gain access anyway? I was informed ages ago that bailiffs can only visit if you fall behind payments on a CCJ is this still true?
I'm worried about being taken to court as I think my job could be put at risk due to security if this happens.
Thanks to everyone for providing such a useful forum.

Thanks Dr Jekyll. I have been having trouble getting through recently but managed to speak to them today. They said it was ok. Been thinking though it may be better to save it in case of a rainy day.

    Morning

Been thinking a lot recently and i need a break. Not a holiday I just need to step away from the forum for a while. I think I have become addicted and i just need to get back to my family. I spend most of my day thinking about this site, figures and spreadsheets, and to be honest, it is starting to have a detrimental effect on my work. I feel that i now have the financial savvy to step out into the wide world and am going to do so now. I cannot express how much you have all helped me on here and i wish you all the best for the future and i feel that i can regard you as my friends.I need to spend a day where i can forget about my debt for a while and not keep thinking about it 24/7 as i am starting to feel a bit ill and my head, some days, seems to be going around in circles. The debt will always be there and i will be updating my sig as it is my record of how much i owe and i will be catching up with you all occasionly but will not be posting for a while just lurking in the shadows. I just need to pay attention to other things that are close to me that i do not wish to lose. I cannot thank you all enough and without this wonderfull site i dont know where i would be at the moment but i just need to get away for a bit. It might only be for a few days or it may be longer but i assure you I WILL BE BACK. Better go now before i tear up and love to you all.

Thats it there is no more. Yellowmonkey has left the building
