Hi all
Not been on for a while and things have been very quiet on DMP front and generally feel happier and more comfortable with things.
Made 3 payments now and had first CCCS review.
Nothing from Sky Card to say they accept, but on monthly statement, my minimum payment shows as my DMP payment and most interest been stopped.
Argos Loans have not been in touch at all but are getting fair size regular payment through DMP. Thik will get in touch as I do not know if they have stopped interest or anything
Back in June, Barclays rejected DMP offer on overdraft and loan and issued termination notice and default. Wrote back to them to say was disappointed they rejected as have kept them in the loop and all that and would continue to make DMP payment.. Had an instant reply from Barclays Customer relations saying they were sorry that they had not been understanding or communicated to me very well. Accounts would be closed and I would be contacted by a Barclays Recovery Unit who would be aware of my CCCS DMP and would accept the offer. In the meantime interest stopped and to continue to make payments. Not heard anything since.
Bit worried about what will happen when fixed rate mortgage runs out in a year or so, but will look into and cross that bridge as and when.
Not much else going on with me down here in the un-sunny south. Footy season keeps me busy watching super Portsmouth, running a kids team etc.
Hope all you fellow DMPers are ok!0 -
Nice to see a Portsmouth local on the site! Working in London today and not so glad to hear it is un-sunny!
Sounds like you are doing well on your DMP so far and things have not gone too badly. I am just waiting to get it all sorted next week with payplan!
I too am worried about the mortgage thing but not to changing but actually getting one (long way off mind you) but like you will probably cross that bridge when it comes to it. Far too much else going on right now. Must say though I am never ever ever touching credit again - apart from a mortgage!
Hope you're having a good day!0 -

 Cheers Paul,
We-ell we're no experts by any means...
We considered a lot of options in the beginning: IVA, bankruptcy, a DMP with CCCS/Payplan, Selling the house, consolidating, remortgaging - all the usual suspects.
In the end we decided to do our own DMP because I'm a bit of a control freak - but some of the ways we handled things were not exactly textbook DFW.
We got the CCCS involved at first, but we negotiated with all our creditors ourselves in the end, we got the interest frozen on a couple, we consolidated the highest interest debts from the least helpful companies just to get a decent grip on them and reduce the interest we were paying.
We BT'd as much as poss onto 0% cards and tarted every time the 0% was about to run out.
We gave up our mobiles, our contact lense habit, and sold our cars. (Hubby needs one for work so he's got a cheaper to run, cheaper to insure, 1996 diesel model these days.)
And we ruthlessly slashed our budget. We spent a long time on the internet, and on the phone, getting the best deal on everything like gas and leccy and internet / tv that we could get - and I eBay everything that's not nailed down.
We earn about £2600 a month between us, and the basic bills come to about a £1000 a month. We aim to pay £1200 a month off the debt and live on what's left over.
Our two kids have been really great, and made it all SO much easier.
If my daughter needs something (like at the moment she needs a coat because she hasn't got one) she'll sort out a load of her stuff that I can Amazon / eBay to help pay for it, and she'll wash up after tea some nights so that I can do another half hour on eBay and list more stuff.
My eldest goes out with hubby at weekends and they help people move large objects / move house, do dump runs for people, clip hedges and mend fences etc to make more money - although we have been paid in pies and cakes before!
I do mystery shopping and babysitting on the side...
I'm making it sound "all work" which it isn't, we 're much closer as a couple, and as a family these days, and we still go out and have fun sometimes.
Hubby has a drink with boys after footie , and I go out dancing on Student night cos it's free to get in and £1 a drink  plus I snaffle as many food related Mystery Shops as possible, so we can go out to eat.
(and in the last few months I've managed to get prescriptions and eye tests as mystery shops as well - which is very cool.)
That's all I can think of for now sweetie, but it can be done - although I know we're lucky in that we earn more than lots of other people.
We started in August 2006 and we'll be debt free (apart from the mortgage) by Feb 2010 at the latest.;)
It took us 20 years to amass this debt, Like this:http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=6260124#post6260124
but if it only takes 3 years and 6 months to pay it off - that's not so bad is it?

Hi guys :hello:
I'm loving this upbeat atmosphere on here at the moment, it's inspirational. So many great stories. I feel refreshed - thanks!
Rayday - I'm sorry but I laughed at the shoe thing too, it's such a me-thing to do! Your posts are so helpful.
Jacks - you and your family are amazing. Well done, it's fabulous to hear someone being so positive.
ILGD - hello my lovely! Hope the chores went well
Pompeymark - glad things are settling down a little.
Sortingit - the next phonecall is much easier. I actually looked forward to mine! Bizarre I know, but it felt so much easier than facing the first one. Things will move quickly now. Good luck.
Anyways, I'm going to confess that I've been out for a curry - not good for the purse or the diet. Hmm!
Best get on for now. Have a FAB weekend xMember #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

hehe this post really tickled me crystaljoan .... tehy mean a token payment (ie. give all creditors say £5 each as a payment for one month whilst setting up a DMP - therefore they cannot come back and say you've missed a payment altogether) ... its not special money in token form ... don't worry0 -
Happy Saturday all - how are we keeping??
I've just been shopping (within my weekly allowance ... DFW fashion!) and I've just bought two pairs of boots for £20 ... can't believe it, what an absolute bargain!!! :oD
Hope you're all having lovely weekends xx0 -
Good afternoon,
This is the first weekend that I have not got up and started shuffling paperwork. Feels good and I am now looking forward to my pending call from my payplan caseworker!
Crystaljoan - well done on taking the first step. I am hoping after my call next week to start mine in Nov too. Good luck!
£20 for 2 pairs of boots - fantastic!!
I am off out for a meal and drinks tonight. All on my lovely friends and little sister who are very proud of me for finally dealing with things and starting the process of a DMP - how nice is that! Bless them all.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend, at least the rain has held off. Well down south anyway.
Take care xx0 -
Hi i am quite new to this posting messages etc.
I am currently considering going on a DMP and was wondering if you have any advice for me.
It all seems a little too simple and straight forward, just wondering if there are any strings attatched.
Any information would be very much appreciated.
thanks:o0
