Thank you Rayday2.
It is a really scary time but I know I have to be sensible and bite the bullet so to speak. I have really cut back and not allowed myself anything at all but I know that it is not working and I am struggling all the time. It is very stressful.
I have drawn up a budget using advice on websites but I never thought to incude things like christmas, dental etc so I think I will wait to speak payplan on Thursday and go through everything with them over the telephone there may be things that I haven't thought of I am sure.
My current account is with Halifax and I have debt with them however I have just opened an account with Nationwide. I do not have any debt with them however does anyone know if they are linked with anyone else?
I am actually feeling quite scared but just have to be strong, realise I have done/doing all that I can and I need the help. Its the phonecalls and letters I am not looking forward too.
Thanks x0 -
http://www.payplan.com/pdf/bank_acc.pdf take a look at this page it lists who are connected to who.
Please don't be scared its actually harder struggling than tackling and you will get there - promise!0 -
Oh just an afterthought, I changed my telephone number told family I was getting funny calls and it did not cost me. I deal with creditors by post only a lot less stressful you open letters when you feel up to it!0

Thank you so much. I am going to look into changing my mobile number, very good idea. I remember when I was late with a payment to HSBC they called over 10 times a day for almost a week, it was upsetting to say the least.
I have a few questions, I am sure that they will be answered when I speak to Payplan but I just want to get every point of view I can and be prepared as much as possible. Do I sound mad, anyone would think I was going to war!
Anyway, not that it is likely to happen any time soon but if I do manage to get a stint of overtime and have extra money what do I do with it? Give it to Payplan or save it? I would feel bad spending any extra when I am trying to clear debts. Sometimes at work we have projects which can result in a few weekends overtime - very rare but I wouldn't waste the chance of the extra money when it does come along. Should I let payplan know about this as and when? Like I said its rare and I couldn't count it as a regular income as can be 3/4 months between these projects.
Sorry if I sound a bit stupid but I really just want to find out everything I can. I have roughly completed a budget and I think possibly I could pay between 800 to 900 a month towards debts after outgoings which I think is quite good???
Thanks Rayday for the link - I will investigate this evening when home.0 -
I personally would chuck the money into savings just in case you have an emergency. This year my MIL ended up in Intensive care at the hospital we were given a "how long will it take to get up here decisions to be made" phone call. So we had to book into a travel inn type thing 3 nights - if it had not been for the childrens savings accounts we would not have been able to go - so plan for everything and plan a little more!
If it mounts up quite a bit you can offer companies a settlement deal and get rid of them quick too - bit further down the line but its a thought!0 -
Hi SortingIt
Good luck with your call with Payplan. To be honest I was bricking it prior to the call. After the call i wondered what all the fuss was about. They were really good. Put me at ease and did not belittle me at all. With the amount that you should have spare you should make great inroads into your debt. You have done the hardest part now. Well done :T :T

Glad to hear from you ILGD. Was getting a bit concerned for you. Sounds as if you are feeling a little happier? Sometimes helps to share problems as we do here as you know.
thanks for missing me :A though im not sure if youll all be glad im back.:D was spending more time on here than YM, and thats saying something:rotfl:
sometimes its good to take a step back from stuff and regroup.tend to get abit obsessed but i think thats my capricorn tendency surfacingits also very easy to get alittle carried away giving out your life story to total strangers (not you lot ,of course:o ).think im too trusting or i just really want to be liked(god, that sounds immature and needy, doesnt it??? )
anyway, waffling again.
its great that ive found some wonderful mates on this thread to put up with me:D and the essays.
love ilgd xxPeople bring great joy into our lives..some by arriving, others by leaving.im trying to be one of the former, so please bear with

Hello sorting it - welcome to your new safe haven. Everyone on here is on your side. It was scary, but as someone said earlier, it's actually much easier to deal with than trying to squeeze out minimum payments each month and robbing peter to pay paul. I'd put money in savings too, as you never know when you'll need it. It sounds like you'll be paying lots to the creditors, so don't worry. I owe over £25k and pay less than £160pm and all of mine accepted straight away (I love my creditors - they were really quite good in the end - never thought I'd be saying that when I was in your shoes though!). Ask away, that's what we are here for.
ILGD - so glad things are easing a little. I was worried to pop back and here you weren't in a good place. Lots of hugs for you and thanks for making me smile as always with your posts!
YM - thanks for posting that query for us.
pinkkat - thanks for the response :T
