I agree with Kat I have a huge "black" file of doom! Subject dividers for each company and right at the front because I do my own DMP I have the budget sheet which has the payment offers etc. I look forward to them being paid off one a time and me shreading it all bar the last letter that says account closed.

See I am a very very sad person!

Well there you go girl send it with FORMAL COMPLAINT in bold at the top recorded delivery and tie your reasoning up to the document I send - quote it!

Sorry I sound bossy but sometimes we think we have to do what these companies say - I say -NOOOOOOOO they have to abide by guidelines and we do have power, make sure you go right through that document would hate you to miss something you could throw at them!

    Well done!

    Power to the Consumer!!!

Good advice there .... can't let these creditors get away with their schoolboy bully tactics ... grrr

  • I bit the bullet yesterday and contacted Payplan. I have a telephone call set up on tuesday.
Ive been in a mess the last couple of months. Through september my bank has charged me nearly £500 in charges! they bounce a DD for £20 but then charge me £38 straight away!!!
Anyway I have an account Natwest, just opened alliance and leicester but unfortunatly missed the boat for this months pay to go in.
I want to go to Natwest and stop all DD but I have a loan with them will they stop that DD if I tell them I will be paying it another way this month??
I missed my mortgage last month as I was £20 short in my account and I dont want it to happen this month so basically if nothing is getting paid its my loan and cc not my mortgage!!
Any advise can natwest stop me from cancelling my DD when I go in there later??

sorry to ramble, I am really at my wits end and not sleeping very well because of all this!!

Do you not have internet banking? If so cancel over that way, cancel all you can and tell them you will be writing to them with regard to the loan.

Have you arranged for wages to go into the new bank account yet?

Make sure you take out as much money as possible from your old account so that you don't go over in your new account as the transission period is very difficult.

Doh! Sorry I should congratulate on bitting on the bullet too sorry!
  • No unfortunatly I dont have online banking!!
Do you think they will stop me from cancelling my DD then?
Thing is my loan is due out on Monday, its going to bounce and I dont want to get charged. As i said my mortgage needs paying and a bit more as I missed last month. I get paid into my old account tomorrow and I will be taking out as much as i can so my OH can pay the mortgage over the phone rather the DD.
Next month will be ok, we have set up a joint account and on payday my money will go staright to that so not to upset the mortgage again!!
The only problem I have is until next payday in october I still have to pay all my house bills with the natwest account, I dont know what to do :(

    thanks so far for advice.

I have a feeling it may be too late to cancel your DD anyway think you need so many working days but not sure on that - bank is best to check with!

They could be awkward I know my mum had problems with Lloyds and there was no option to cancel DD, but that was Lloyds not your bank.

All you can do is try, if you feel better do it over the phone aren't they always advertising they do 24-7 banking!
  • Thanks for the help, Ive just applied for Online banking should get a password in the next few days. Hopefully by saturday then I will cancel and see what happens. If I get charged So be it, Il try and get it back hopefully when the lift the stoppage on it.

Thanks for your help, its made me feel a little better anyway.

Just got my email from Payplan of everything I need. so got to get the info together. ANd be realisitc with expenditure, the last few months Ive survived on about £150 for everything. At least my freezer is getting emptied and my old cans in the cupboard are clearing out lol
