I've just signed up with the CCCS for one of their debt management plans. It's the 2nd time I've used them as I used them in the early 90's (and was one of their first customers!)

It was so long ago that I can't remember how it all worked out and what I did about the phone calls which you start getting from the creditors. I'm looking to get some advice about these calls from you helpful people on here! I have sent all the creditors the standard CCCS letter about the fact I've asked for CCCS's help and paid them all a token payment, but I've had a number of calls with one of them being from some nasty bit of work at a collection agency. Do you think I can avoid these calls completely or should I speak to these people?

    Appreciate any help

    Regards
    Chris
  • Welcome afcchriss
In my experience Chris I avoided the calls, with caller display I simply answered the calls from no's I recognised, alternatively simply tell the caller your CCCS ref no and don't get drawn into a conversation. Hope that helps.

  • Hi everyone,

Postie had'nt delivered to us for two days. Then at 3 o'clock this afternoon we had a stack of them.
Droyds (empire) have now given us 7 days to pay the amount my hubby owes else they are issuing a court summons for a ccj ,the letter was dated 26th june. It's the same also with littlewoods, both are low amount creditors!
Three months so far on our dmp, still looking over our shoulders etc.
Me and hubby had fright of our life,as we thought a couple of Baliffs where waiting outside, fed up of worrying about everything lol.

  • Hi cq
I know its frustrating and scary when they keep on, it seems the smaller debtors always shout the loudest. Speak to your dmp people they'll have the best advice. I don't think bailiffs can come in until its been to court and you'd know if it had been to court. Take care, you're in the right place and you're doing the right thing, they can't have what you haven't got!!

Our daughter worked out the rate that we are paying now,I would be no longer alive when it is finished !!!!
Never mind can't take any money with me,lol

Droyds eventually accepted our payments we never got a CCJ, I wrote to them and told them we owed them the least and they were the last to accept (small lie - Lloyds had that pleasure!) and they layed down and took the offer, 3 months later they wrote saying they would now take £10 - I wrote back saying that was unreasonable and against the Financial ombudsman fair practice for dealing with debts - they again shut up!

Chin up you will get them all sorted eventually!
