    Hi all,

Before i start, i would just like to say that i'm pretty dreadful with computers etc, forums and poker about my limit, so if my posts are in wrong place or are total drivel, i apologise in advance. :D

I thought i'd start a thread to log my progress, and if i get stuck along the way, maybe get a bit of help?

    Anyway,

Woolwich...........at asking for money back stage...1st letter 6th june.

    Barclays...........awaiting charges list....1st letter 6th june.

    2 x Barclaycards & Capital one..........1st letter off today.

I'm a hopeful, rather than confident fighter at the outset, but reading the successes cheers me up. Good luck to all here.

    GAZ.
  • I got a quick question for those of you in the know about the reclaim procedure.

I may be clutching at straws here, but can I send in a £10 cheque to HSBC for them to provide me with information about my current account I hold with them, AND the credit card account I held, up until last year, which I opened at the same time? Or do I need to apply twice for this information (as in £20)

Also, because I have cancelled and shut down the credit card account, will all they need to locate my records be personal info, or will they need the details of it, ie from an old bill?

Thanks for your help, I really wanna get into this!

Dont cry, it isnt as bad as it seems and the banks are nasty and horrible for what they did to you :( *hug & sympathy*

Firstly i would ring the bank ( before hubby gets home) and see if there is any way they will refund the charges. Explain your mistake. Its a long shot but may just work in the short term. Even if they dont refund all charges they may refund a portion of them if you explain the difficulty they have left you in.

I might get jumped on here for posting this but hey, we've all been there and this is what I would do to minimise the damage immediately. I would ring up whoever the direct debits are due to go out to, explain what has happened and that they wont be paid this month on time and that you cant absorb the loss. I'd offer to double up the payment next month (assuming they are for bills paid regularly on a monthly basis. The direct debits can always be cancelled then, paid by cheque next month and then reinstate the direct debits once you're straight again.

This will give you the money you need immediately to get the weeks shopping in. Explain to the kids that money is tight while you try and make up the shortfall caused by the charges and they are going to have to work with you as a family to cope with the loss and eat less !

Hubby is going to have to lump it I'm afraid. Unless he wants the total responsibility of managing the household finances then he will have to accept this isnt your fault and you are doing the best you can to deal with the situation. There's always the sofa to sleep on if he isnt happy :p

As for reclaiming the charges if they dont refund anything or only part of them... you know the drill so good luck :)

phoned Alliance & Leicester and spoke to a lady in Liverpool. She asked if I could move money from elsewhere into my account to cover any bills that will go out shortly which I can't. She then said she would get one of the charges reinstated for me, which is better than nothing. I will be sending my 1st letter tomorrow requesting full charges back. Have taken your advice and cancelled some d/debits which i can pay weekly with a card for my water etc.

Husband will be on the sofa tonite me thinks, so u can guess what happened there!!!! (He's soooo supportive - NOT)

Does anyone know if you can still pay for gas weekly using a card. You could a few years ago but can't find anything on their website.

Hello can anybody tell me about reclaiming small claims from Abbey. We have just been through the process of £290.00 from them - only a small amount I know - we were offered £170.00 which I was going to reject however on checking the online banking I found that the amount had already been paid into the Abbey account. What do we do now - can we continue reclaiming the rest - are the bank right to have paid the money without us accepting it? Susan

I think you'll find its the Allocation Questionnaire that is dispensed with and there may still be a fee to pay if your claim is more than £1500. They are trying to speed up the court process by dispensing with the AQ. Please read this thread...

Standard procedure from Abbey, have a read of the Abbey thread which you'll find a link for in the Reclaim Help Thread. You read to write back and say you are accepting it in part payment and without prejudice and will be continuing to court for the remainder.
