You'll be fine and will have something to celebrate on holiday as well as something to celebrate with:D
My MCOL STILL says acknowledged!!!
on another note....have received statements from Capital One now (and they cashed my chq) Have sent first letter asking for refund. Its not much, £174 + interest coming out at just over £240 so we'll see what they have to say. That a/c was sold to debt collectors but it was repayed as the firm offered me a deal after a while and I payed 50% of the total owing in full and final settlement, so Cap One can't put it into the a/c as the a/c doesn't exist.
HOPE IT GOES WELL. I TOOK CAP ONE TO COURT ON THE 30TH JUNE AS THEY ONLY OFFERD ME PART PAYMENT SO JUST WAITING TO SEE WHAT THEY DO NOW. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP
just hope nationwide dont defend and its all over oh and started on barclaycard to now :rotfl:0 -
It'll all work out well in the end :T
Keep me posted. If your 28 days with Nationwide are up on Sunday I think you have to give them till Monday. You can go for judgement from midnight Monday but I think you'll find you've been given back YOUR money by Monday anyway.
I'm not expecting much from Cap1. They seem to pay up after MCOL but not until then. Good luck with yours, and barclaycard.

I may be clutching at straws here, but can I send in a £10 cheque to HSBC for them to provide me with information about my current account I hold with them, AND the credit card account I held, up until last year, which I opened at the same time? Or do I need to apply twice for this information (as in £20)
Also, because I have cancelled and shut down the credit card account, will all they need to locate my records be personal info, or will they need the details of it, ie from an old bill?
Thanks for your help, I really wanna get into this!
Is anyone able to answer? I didnt want to start a new thread and was hoping someone on here might have the answers?0 -
Hi crystal,
I have no intention of delving into your persanal affairs but why did A & L take £150 ? Could you explain what happened to create this charge please.
This will help us on this forum to understand and then, hopefully, give you sound advice as to what to do next.
We are all on your side but to help, we need a little bit more info.
It might well be a good idea to ask your husband to get involved on this forum and he will quickly see that your problem is the problem of many.
There are many experienced people here and "Edinburghlass" is one of them.
I feel certain that your husband, after reading the numerous posts, will see that you are not alone and will join in the fight against these banks.
Rest assured that as each day passes, one of these banks will be forced to explain the charges. When that happens, all hell will be let loose, not for us but the banks who gorge themselves on unlawful money
Hi
I had 4 direct debits going out on Monday which when all 4 were paid left me just over £15.00 over my overdraft limit. So instead of charging me a fee of £25.00 for going over my overdraft they decided to not honour any of the 4 direct debits then charge me £34.00 for each direct debit they didn't honour plus the £25.00 for going over my overdraft limit so was infact charged £161.00 in one day which has took most of our money from our account and the direct debits still need to be paid. It took a good few minutes to realise what had happened when i was looking at my online statement. I was gobsmacked and sat staring at the screen for a while. I have just checked again online and a cheque has been presented this morning but obviously they won't pay this now and I will get another charge of £34.00 tomorrow morning. The charge that the lady on the phone said would be put back hasn't happened but maybe later on in the day.
I had charges applied to my account with Natwest but never anything near on this scale. They seem determined to get back as much money as possible with all the reclaims going on. BUT RECLAIM I WILL !!!!!!!!!
The more I think of what they have done the madder I am getting. I was quite upset yesterday but this site has helped tremendously. In fact I am absolutley FUMING that they can take that amount of money from our account. It's our ****** money which has been hard earned !!!!!
Why is their not a law which forbids the banks from doing this?0 -

OK crysta1, A & L have gone well over the top and it is tantamount to theft.
all for such a small amount of £15.
The very first thing you should do is write to them recorded delivery and request a complete breakdown of these charges, IE: how they calculate them. Tell them that you consider the charges unlawful and that you do not accept such charges deemed as a penalty being applied to your account.
If they cannot give you a full breakdown, demand the charges and interest back immediately.
This is a blatant attempt by A & L to gorge on your account. Furthermore, you must issue a severe complaint to the OFT and FOB about the methods used by A & L in the handling of your account.
I also suggest you send a copy to the DTI as A & L are not acting in the interests of the public.

Unfortunately, this is a civil matter at present. One would normally make a police report for theft which this is.
I suggest that you get yet another account with a bank and this time, arrange an overdraft to cover you for unlikely events.
In the meantime, kick up merry hell with A&L
This saga must serve as a warning to anyone changing bank accounts as it is clear WHO NOT TO DEAL WITHThe Winner Takes it All0 -
Hi everyone,
Can I get some help please I just received a letter from the Halifax they state within the letter
quote:-
I have reviewed your account carefully, and I am satisfied that the charges were correctly applied. However, we value our relationship with you so I am pleased to tell you that on this occasion as a gesture of goodwill, I am arranging for a payment of £ 1,326.00 to be made to you. Please note this dos not mean that we believe we are under any legal obligation to do so.
So what do I do now as its £ 4,619.00 in charge alone they took from our Bank accounts. We really need some help with this please.

Write back to them and say you will accept it as part payment only and will continue to court for the rest if not paid within 7 days0
