Are you ok, Tayforth? It's unlike you to be incommunicado for so long. You don't have to tell us anything but it would be good to know you are all right.0

I'm so sorry! I went on holiday the day after my last post, and was hunting for my passport for ages that evening and forgot to do the update!
I've been on a couple of times to do it, and got distracted by other threads.
Anyway... I had a lovely Christmas at home with my family. Really relaxing. And in January, I made a few resolutions, the first of which was do things that make me happy. And so far, I have succeeded. My social life is pretty busy - I've had so many invitations, and reconnected with friends I'd let fall by the wayside during my marriage.
I've also been on few more datesI was set up with a couple of guys by friends - they were nice and good company but I didn't really click with any of them. Really nice to go on dates, though, it's fun.
And then last week, totally out of the blue, I met this lovely guy at a charity event I was taking part in. He was just really friendly and nice. He didn't ask me out that day, but he did get my email address (from a round robin email about the event), and contacted me. We've been in touch for a few days, it's now progressed to swapping numbersand today he said that he'd love to take me out sometime. No messing about, just told me that he thinks I'm really nice. And I like him a lot. So we'll see what happens.
That's my news in a nutshell!!
How is everyone? xxxxLife is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Did you go on holiday by yourself? Hope you had a fab time wherever you went.

I know, jackieblack! Can't believe that it's been so long.
The holiday was with a really good friend, we went to the south of France. Such a laugh, plenty of nice food and wine. It was wonderful.
I promise to update on this guy I met if things progress. I have been on a few dates the last while, but there's something rather special about him...Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Hi Tayforth - I'm another lurker, although 'long time' as I have read this whole thread since starting at 7pm last night! You've kept me with not only your story and style of writing but how strong and inspirational you are, and how much you have obviously changed since the split. I must admit when I first read that the Ex had agreed to leave, I didn't think it would be that easy and he would hassle you, although I'm pleased for your sake that he hasn't!
Did you ever get round to setting the wheels rolling with appointing a solicitor to arrange a divorce or annulment? Best of luck to you xx:j Growing Older is Mandatory, Growing Up is Optional :j0 -

Thanks so much for your incredibly kind words, totallybonkers.I've seen a huge change in myself too, it's wonderful. I honestly couldn't have foreseen that my life would be so amazing now. I only wanted to get out of the miserable situation that I was in, anything else would have been a bonus.
Now I have my house to myself, wonderful family and friends, supportive colleagues, a decent social life and to top it all off I've met a really nice guy who's giving me butterflies. But even if things don't work out with him, I know that I'll be just fine on my own.
I did get the wheels in motion! A few things needed sorted out first but fingers crossed I will be divorced in a few months' time! To be honest, I'm just treating it as another bit of admin. In my head, I am already free of the ex, so the paper confirmation will just be the cherry on top.
Some of my friends have suggested having a party when it's official, but I don't know! Is that a bit tasteless? No doubt I will have a few drinks to celebrate, thoughLife is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A
