I dont date, I seem to be a man repellant, ha so Im the last person to give dating advice, all I can say is you dont need to go into detail about what happened but theres no big deal about being separated. Just enjoy yourself.0

Thing is, I'm not going to lend my ex the hard drive to copy his stuff - I emailed him and said that, as he took the car and didn't return it in April (contrary to what we'd agreed), he had shown himself to be untrustworthy. So either I copy the stuff myself, or he does without. It's not leaving my possession.
Possible compromise: buy yourself an external hard drive, use the lead from that one to cut/paste your files, documents and pictures onto your computer from the original hard drive. You can then a) move your files onto your hard drive and b) give him the old one back, minus its lead and minus your files. Don't give a second thought to how a judge might feel about it - it's a minor issue in the greater scheme of things.
Sounds a little complex but the connection leads tend to be interchangeable (USB to mini-USB as a rule) and it means that you have the old hard drive with all its negative connotations gone for good.
BTW - great news about the date. In my very humble opinion, your circumstances will come out naturally in conversation but don't let it dominate the evening. Just enjoy yourself! And let us know how it goes0 -
I cant advise on dating but just wanted to say good luck for Sunday Tayforth, you deserve something really nice to happen to you!
My divorce petition was a bit weak..I didnt really want to slag off my ex in it, being a soppy person that I am, and feeling bad about walking out on him. My solicitor told me that if we made it any "milder" and I took out anything that I thought might offend or upset him, then it wouldnt get accepted and I wouldnt have a case for divorce. But other than that the judge didnt make any comments I think. So I'm sure he wont even get the opportunity to mention you "withholding" property...they just seem to get rubber stamped.
What stage are you at with the divorce and things??0 -
So how did it go Tayforth?? is no news good news??!!0

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Sorry, I was so busy all weekend and at work today. But here I am!
Last night was lovely. We had such a nice time, just talking and laughing. We started off over coffee, then went for a couple of drinks. I didn't notice the time flying by. He's great company, and he seemed to enjoy mine too.
The Subject didn't come up, but let's not worry about that just yet.
Oh, and he kissed me at the end of the night. Which was also lovely.:D:D:D:D:smileyhea

I read this earlier, and it really struck a chord with me - about putting on a happy facade, feeling lonely in your marriage, inertia, fear of the unknown etc.
Should be required reading in a sticky or something!
