Thank you, I will.
I'm going to visit my mum this weekend. I've really missed her the last few weeks, so I'm looking forward to seeing her. There's nowhere like your mum's house, is there?Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Your good news has cheered me up. Enjoy a lovely weekend with your mum. Pleased for you. :j0

Sorry I've been AWOL for a week or so! Work has been busy, and I've been out with a few friends, socialising, keeping busy.
But I've also been enjoying spending time on my own, just relaxing - having baths, reading books, cooking, listening to music (and I can dance around the living room to it if I want!).I have rediscovered how much I like my own company, and it's wonderful.
And... I've met someone nice.Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

I can heartily recommend the Nice Guys.
They tend to be very...naughty...at timesI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
LOL, thanks for the info Jojo!
Nothing's happened between us yet, but I met him, and got talking to him, and he seems nice, and he asked me out on a proper date (this Sunday).
I'm a bit nervous. In a good way!Haven't been on a first date for YEARS.

And in the midst of all the happiness...
I wasn't sure whether to mention this, but I'm having a bit of bother with the ex (sigh). He emailed me asking me to copy all his photos etc from the hard drive for him. I said no problem. He dropped a new hard drive through the letterbox for me to copy them onto.
Only problem: I couldn't find the lead attachment for the old hard drive. So I emailed to let him know, and said that perhaps he had it (I definitely don't; he monopolised all things IT in the house, and I never once even plugged the hard drive into the PC). He said that he didn't have it. I said that if he supplied me with a new lead, I would copy his stuff.
Cue an email from him about me 'deliberately withholding his property and behaving unreasonably' and how that 'wouldn't look good in court'.
Er, how would it not? The judge isn't going to care who did what to whom. We'll be granted a divorce either way. I had a little hollow laugh at the implied threat. He either wants his photos enough to buy a replacement lead, or he doesn't. I had to spend £125 hiring a car when he took the one that belonged to both of us.
I just want him out of my life for good, but I am absolutely not going to buy a lead when he probably has the old one. I danced to his tune for long enough, he has no power over me now.Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Good news about the date Tayforth!
Your ex does sound so petty- I had a similar argument via text message about a frying pan (that he accused me of taking) with my ex a day or so ago.
Stick to your guns on the issue of the cable. If he wants the hard drive and photos then he will need a lead to download them on to his own pc when he gets it back won't he?? (not that I know anything about IT either)
I have no social life at the moment - so I have a date with a tub of haagen daz vanilla ice cream (on offer at my local supermarket!) at the weekend!! It doesnt answer me back, put me down or be sarcastic.0 -

I can't quite believe how strong you have now become. I suspect that 6 months or so ago you wouldn't have been able to do this (telling him to get lost basically)
good for you.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

Thanks, TWM!
I did read that bit about your ex and the frying pan, and you're probably right - it's likely to be mouldering in the bag with other unwashed dishes! Ew!
Thing is, I'm not going to lend my ex the hard drive to copy his stuff - I emailed him and said that, as he took the car and didn't return it in April (contrary to what we'd agreed), he had shown himself to be untrustworthy. So either I copy the stuff myself, or he does without. It's not leaving my possession.
Ooh, I do like ice cream - and yes, it's good company lol!
You're do so amazingly well too - you've come through even more than I have, I love to hear how you're getting on. :TI can't quite believe how strong you have now become. I suspect that 6 months or so ago you wouldn't have been able to do this (telling him to get lost basically)
good for you.
Thanks spirit! And you're absolutely right - I wouldn't have had the strength 6 months ago. I feel like I've regained a lot of self-esteem, confidence and perspective in the last few months. I haven't regretted my decision for one second, even at first when I feeling miserable, scared and uncertain.
These days, I'm almost always smiling.
Now that I think of it, it's almost 7 months to the day since I dumped the useless waste of space. :rotfl:Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Hi Tay - just been having a little catch-up on your progress (instead of working on my OU assignment!;)) and it's wonderful to see you go from strength to strength!Cue an email from him about me 'deliberately withholding his property and behaving unreasonably' and how that 'wouldn't look good in court'.
Had to LOL at this, has he been reading the "Divorce for Dummies" books or something? Either that or he's being goaded by his mates down the pub. Nobody uses language like that unless they've been told to, carry on ignoring him, he hasn't got a leg to stand on.
