Hi Tayforth, long time lurker here, you're doing so well and it's lovely that you keep updating. I have briefly appeared from lurkdom to ask where you found out about the conservation work - I'm not in your area but have just moved to a new area on my own and looking for things to do! Thank you in advance! *retreats back into lurkdom and opens Boots website to look at avene stuff!*

Hello kjp - how lovely of you to post, it makes me wonder how many others are lurking here! I'd love it if you all said hello now and then! :A

I'm keeping the thread going for various reasons:

    1. as 'talking' therapy for myself
    2. to continue the story for all you amazing lovely people who have followed and supported me
    3. and most of all... to give hope to those who are in the same position that I was in, who are in despair, scared to leave and wondering what their life will be like afterwards. Because, when I was in that position and other posters told me that they'd left THEIR abusive exes, my first question was, "And how did life turn out for you? Was it the right decision?"

In answer to your question... I found out about it through a woman at work, she's into conservation and is involved with a local charity.

You could try Meetup, they may have such a group near you - there's none near me, sadly. I've seen conservation volunteer groups advertised in various places. Or you could contact a nature charity such as the RSPB? Maybe even the National Trust?

Can anyone else give advice on this? There's bound to be someone who knows more than I do. :)

(And you can blame me if you have a little Boots splurge *cough* skincare is on 3for2 *cough*) :D:D:D

Hanging on for grim death at the moment but I'm getting there. Really pleased that you continue to make so much progress :-)

Thank you! Oh, that sounds ominous. Are you still in the same place?

Third and last day at work this week. I'm exhausted. Thank goodness I started off part-time when I came back - in a couple of weeks, I'll be back to doing five days every week.

    Try http://www.do-it.org.uk/

Just type in your town and it should bring up a lot of conservation volunteering opportunities as well as other things you had never thought of :rotfl:

You can also google National Trust and "whatever county you are in Wildlife Trust" and they will have details of conservation groups.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
