I got told by a friend that, when he was around, everybody could tell, because I just wasn't the same. She described as the first time anybody had ever understood why spouses are jokingly referred to as a 'ball and chain', because they could see I was being held back.
Of course, this may have something to do with the fact that I tend towards a habit of drinking a little bit, singing and talking/dancing with random men after gigs. Which is, apparently, what they like about meI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Thanks. I am feeling a bit 'HA I can do anything' today.Brighton_belle wrote: »Oh Tay, that is marvellous: I was wondering when you were going to tell her and thought that might be a stress point. So relieved for you.
And well done for tackling some of the practical stuff - no shame in having a go with the tv and then booking a technician: that's still sorting it out
Yes, that's been stressing me out for a while. I'm so glad that she believed me. HUGE relief.
And I've never been very technically-minded; it's a wonder I managed to get the thing out of the box and plug it in! :rotfl:Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

You're right; and it's easy to see afterwards how much of a weight you've been carrying around.
I swear, even though I was tired today, my shoulders were back, my head was up and I walked with a little spring in my step. I look back to my stooped, shrunken self a month ago and I know without a doubt that I've done the right thing.Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Gah.
Don't know why but I enjoyed that one. Strangely expressive!I'm determined to stand on my own two feet and not let any of the ex's dirty little tricks beat me
That's exactly what you are doing. Glad you got the bolt off the shed door. Feminine intelligence beats male sledgehammer (or bolt cropper) tactics every time0 -
Gah. Managed to get the freeview channels tuned, but not Virgin. Gave up and phoned Virgin, who are sending a technician tomorrow. But at least I have some channels for now!
Then I phoned to confirm my hire car for tomorrow.
Also unscrewed the bolt on the back shed, so I can use it againI'm determined to stand on my own two feet and not let any of the ex's dirty little tricks beat me
Today the shed, tomorrow the world!0 -

About 6 months after I left my ex, I remember really clearly walking down the road to my new flat (all mine!) wearing my uniform from my new job (career change that he wasn't supportive of at all) and looking forward to walking my new dogs (that he refused to let me have, ever) and suddenly realising I was beaming from ear to ear! People walking past me must have thought I'd gone loopy.
That'll be you before you know it.0 -

Thank youI do feel as if I've outwitted him, he probably thinks that he's been so clever. But I know that I can cope with anything

I'm going to have a quick tidy upstairs, the bedrooms are upside down with my attempts at reorganising.
And then I'll relax with a book or DVD before bed, in peace.
It's still such a novelty that I can do as I please.Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Then I phoned my mum to tell her that 'OH' was too ill to make it to the wedding, and she believed me - or if she didn't, she didn't question it. So that's one massive hurdle overcome. What a relief. Hopefully, she'll tell lots of people before Saturday and I won't be quizzed too much.
My feeling is that your mum has sussed already. May make things easier actually for you if she has?0
