Yes, that's the kind of thing I am talking about.
There have been things in the past that I have posted.
Example: I will post 'husband has got a new job' or 'dog has died'.
I meet up with a friend the following week who asks me how I am. I say 'well my husband has got a new job and my dog has died'. Friend will then look sheepish and say 'Oh I am sorry, I didn't know that!' When they clearly did.
These are normal, rational, educated people who just act odd about FB and pretend they haven't seen it.
It has given me a very different perspective on people!
They may genuinely have not seen it though, I sometimes miss bits of news etc and peeps seem to think I should automatically know just because I have FB. I have missed baby announcements before due to it not showing in newsfeed/not bothering to read every single profile!
I use FB just to rant and rave and generally just be nosy but I don't let it bother me if someone 'pretends' they don't go on! Also I have notifications on my phone telling me if I have a message on FB so if I get one of them I look at it pretty sharpish even if I'm not actually on FB!Kate

I am on private too, just friends, a very select few who I interact with daily, the odd game here and there and a nosy at pics...Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

I use FB a lot for keeping in contact with friends I don't see often IRL but have known for years and years via various fora etc.
As I use it a lot for political/AR activities I need to take holidays now and then as all the awful stories and pictures I get everyday are a bit too much, I get too depressed with reality hitting me in such force every day.
My real complaint about FB is how hard it is to look back for old posts and comments, I used to use it to send interesting links but it is such a hassle to find them again I have reverted to emails after a flurry of excited FB activity some months back.

yep, again, that would be me. Its very rare I go on other people's walls at all, and if it doesn't show up on the first page of my FB I rarely go any further back than that to read stuff.0 -
That's my point though. You like their photos, do you 'like' them or just view them?
I "like" the ones that I like, I don't like all of them so don't hit like for those. Because that would be weird.
Are you upset because people are just viewing your photos and not liking them because that's very needy! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Back when dh spoke to his dad if I liked or commented on a status or picture of his aunties' he would then comment to say I was a sycophantic !!!!!. Not that that stopped me.
OP maybe your relatives see fb like those round robin letters people used to send at Christmas? You keep them updated on your news, they keep you updated but maybe they don't think it needs an acknowledgement/reply til you're together and can discuss properly.
My sisters are a bit like that, if I mention something they'll cut me off saying 'yeah I saw it on fb' but they never like or comment on anything xLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

I think there is a difference between people who have the FB app on their phone and receive notifications etc and those who only access it on a computer.
The phone people tend to interact far more and respond quicker to messages.
My guess is they would be far more likely to notice who likes posts and pics too..0 -

ah maybe not - I have the FB app on my phone, but I've disabled all notifications on my phone, so I don't see anything until I use the FB app.0 -
I rarely post status updates anymore. My profile is the highest privacy it can be.
However, I would be lost without it as I'm part of a group of ladies from here on MSE and its been a lifesaver as a new mum. Not only that but I've made some proper friends and go to meet ups
I'm also a member of several local selling groups. These tend to be hit and miss but have managed to pick up a few bargains and sell some junk
And finally, I do like seeing what friends and family have been up to although I don't have a huge 'friend list'. My rule is if I saw that person in Tescos doing the weekly shop, would I stop for a chat? If not, no point being 'FB friends'! Hence why I have barely anyone from school days of 13/14 years agoMFW!

I am so sorry..I have viewed this page and i do not use face*uck....
Forgive me..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
