I deactivated facebook for 3 years and just after christmas I thought I would reactivate myself, I don't post anything but I like to see what old school friends are up to, and family that I don't see all the time.
I must admit tho I am getting quite addicted to candy crush game.... I actually go on every few hours to have 5 goes at once..... before anyone says it YES I know i'm a sad biff lol
I was actually quite surprised to read nasty comments about myself posted from my bestfriend (exfriend now) from various times when my children were poorly and I couldn't meet her in town to sit in a coffee shop for hours on end (very dull and actually bad for me as I am allergic to coffee) so blocked and deleted her and in the last 3 months I have saved over £100 :-) very mse lol and I have been able to take my kids on some lovely days out so far ,weathers a bit pants tho.
Ohhh yes! I forgot to mention Candy Crush!
My name is bestpud and I am an addict! LOL0 -
I moved away from the area I grew up in, so I began using it to keep in touch with friends that still live there. We organised a school reunion on there and have a page for people that went to the school in the 1970s, to post their old pics and memories.
I also play games on there - it's Criminal Case at the moment.
And I post pics of my baking efforts!Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

As per the title, if you are a FB hater, please don't bother to view or comment.
Should I take it from this, that you are not wanting this subject to be debated and discussed by people, with all manner of opinions and perspectives?
No, not at all, debate ahead please.
I just find it odd how people behave on FB. Maybe it is just my friends.
People clearly read and ignore comments/photos of your kids etc. They wouldn't do that if they saw you at the school gate or in the street.
Behaviour that is clearly unacceptable in a face to face situation is perfectly acceptable on FB. I don't get it.
I know I am in a minority because if a friend posts photos of their family / holiday / children or a comment about their day, I will always like and, if appropriate comment. If I see it.
Just as I would in a face to face interaction.0 -
I use it for keeping in touch with friends and family who are scattered all over the world. I like being able to see pictures they have put up.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

yes but would you whip out your photos in the street if you randomly met your friends, pass them round and insist everyone looked at them all? I don't like/comment on friends photos unless I particularly like the photos, sorry. And I don't expect anyone to like any photos I might put on FB, just because they know me.
To be honest, my DD has a friend in real life who is also on FB, and her mum is a nightmare (in my opinion) on FB - she regularly posts loads of photos of her kids on FB, and then comes back and comments on them herself - along the lines of "hundreds of FB friends and only a handful like these" - smacks of needy desperation to me (in her case).0 -

Yes, good point. That particular FBer does sound a bit odd!0 -

That's my point though. You like their photos, do you 'like' them or just view them?0 -
I will put another example forwards. I have family and friends across 3 continents and that is one of the main reasons I use FB.
All these family members encourage me to use FB to put photos of our little boy growing up.
I post these photos. They obviously view them, save them, print them out, or whatever.
Nobody 'likes' or comments on them though. Don't get me wrong, I am not hedonistic, I am not seeking rewards for putting these photos up but if I don't get an acknowledgment I will stop doing it.
If I stop doing it, I get emails / phone calls asking why I am not sharing my life, lol!
I just find it all a bit odd. To the extent, I have been looking at the psychology of it all.0 -
I used to use it a lot. I only use it to keep in touch with my daughter who is abroad and to keep in touch with my son who i dont see often. Of course i have other people on there too but they are people who have added me.
I view their photos and 'like' them too.
I also play Mob Wars. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
