Posting Messages saying' Don't bump the thread' when it wasnt bumped

I just dragged the pic onto my browsers toolbar , then clicked to reveal the photobucket URL.
Can't quite understand why it was removed from the smily list.
I don't think it was ever in the smiley list I could be wrong though. I used it on a don't bump post & the whole message disappeared but when I don't use it my posts stay. Who knows why lolThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
Top of the comping board sticky
But all that says is don't bump post for the sake of it. That is exactly as I explained - when someone posts just to make the thread appear at top of the boards.
People replying to a thread/conversation that is relevant is not bumping for the sake of it!!!
It's not fair that people are made to feel like they can't contribute relevant and appropriate comments for fear of being 'jumped' on for bumping. That just detracts from the community spirit. The fur thread is a perfect example of that. The person was only trying to post what they thought was a relevant and helpful piece of information. I can't imagine that their intention was to 'deliberately bump the post for the sake of it'.
This whole community is built on helping each other out. It will put people off if they feel they can't comment to add extra info, updates or information regarding the prize/competition. That sort of post is relevant and appropriate.:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -

Purple x preferance to not entering a competition because it was made of real fur is of no relevance. Everyone who clicks the comp has the chance to read what the prize is which can be done when the comp is clicked on
So no need what so ever for purples bumpThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
No because if people get fed up of me posting don't bump they are more likely not to to bump so I don't have to say it & they don't have to read it

What about the people who are fed up and don't bump threads - do we have to just like it and lump it!
You are infact bumping threads when telling people not to bump them and I doubt many even go back into the thread to see that they have not been asked to bump threads - like I have already said a PM explaining nicely and maybe linking to the forum rules (to newbies) would be the best way forward. The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0 -

No you could also encourage people to not bump
People do look back to see what the next person has written

Luckyone- you say that bumping threads interferes with your comping.
So don't you think that your bumping of threads (albeit with a good intention behind it) might interfere with others comping? I agree a discrete pm would be much better if you'd like to police the forum in this way.Debt free 6th December 2014

It wasn't a bump though! It was a reply. You're confusing reply/comments with bumps!
As an example sometimes (and I see this fairly regularly) a comp is posted for something like a spa weekend. The OP doesn't provide much details (but of course, the details are fully available should people click on the link) - however underneath someone will reply with "The spa is based in Essex".
Would you consider that bumping?
Personally I consider this to be helpful and relevant reply. I am sure that the intent of Purple's reply was to be helpful too!:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
Luckyone - if you were me and enter comps the way you do, you would have to click on the competition to see why it had been bumped, as you said to see if you rules had changed/you could make more entries etc etc (as you said before), if then someone else came along to that thread and said "please do not bump the thread" you would then have to check again.
This may be okay for you as you are the one that is bumping the thread to say don't bump, but what about other compers who do what you do, surely you are putting them at a disadvantage.
I also don't think your method is having any impact whatsoever as I believe it's mainly newbies who bump posts.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -

No because the more people see it is wrong the more people will stop, this can not be seen from a P.MThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0
