As an example sometimes (and I see this fairly regularly) a comp is posted for something like a spa weekend. The OP doesn't provide much details (but of course, the details are fully available should people click on the link) - however underneath someone will reply with "The spa is based in Essex".
Would you consider that bumping?
Personally I consider this to be helpful and relevant reply. I am sure that the intent of Purple's reply was to be helpful too!

I agree with this, I often see a comp for a spa break, I have no idea where it is and post the area (if it hasn't been already) as, if it's the other end of the country, there's no point me entering and no point others wasting time clicking on the link when it's the other end of the country for them too.

This may be okay for you as you are the one that is bumping the thread to say don't bump, but what about other compers who do what you do, surely you are putting them at a disadvantage.

Yes it will bump the thread twice, but the more people understand it's not right the less it will happen.

That is until the powers that be introduce a incentive to not bump like being banned for so long after the second time they do it

I agree the system is not ideal but it's all we have at the moment

You seem to be doing this as it's easier for you and the way you enter competitions - maybe now is a time to think of others and take on board that people are more bothered by your bumping than the initial bump.

I am considering others as if it stops at least one person who bumps then that has helped us all
