Posting Messages saying' Don't bump the thread' when it wasnt bumped

I can only give you my interpretation of it but by policing I refer to the certain members that feel it is their place to tell someone off for doing something that THEY feel is wrong. Often what they are doing is hypocritical as they are often doing it by telling the person not to an example of this would be bumping a thread to say please don't bump etc.
Hope that helps give you my interpretation
Ok but one of the posters who most often post please don't bump is a BG so aren't they just pointing out the forum rules?
Difficult to post don't bump with out bumping...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.
 (Wisdom, Courage, Self-control, Justice)
Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0

It comes down to what is a bump I see so many people saying dont bump when it is needed when someone has bumped the thread and it has reappeared on the first page and all they wanted to say was entered but then there are people going out of their way to tell people off for bumping etc not really getting my point across well 0 0

It's just a saying that has been around for years same as grammar police or any other word and police that have been used on t'internet - in this case comping police.
It's usually used to describe members that take to 'telling' other members how to conduct themselves/spell correctly etc etc.
I see you quoted me and I just want to point out that it wasn't aimed at you.
I don't see if as a negative term either for the record. The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0

Posted from Glad on the other thread (of many?)
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=60425493&postcount=76I can't see any problem with someone posting on a thread with what they feel is a valid contribution to the competition details
posting 'please don't bump threads' just bumps them again, although sometimes BGs do this to a newbie posting 'thanks for the comp' on lots of threads
out of the thousands of comps that get posted every week it doesn't really happen that much so maybe the best thing to do if you notice someone doing it regularly is pm a BG who could then point out the forum etiquette politely to people who are not aware if someone has made a one off comment on one comp just move on and it will float down the board again nicely if someone has made a one off comment on one comp just move on and it will float down the board again nicely
Please be nice to all MoneySavers.
Now that we've had the word from a BG of the Comping Forum, can we just kill this off and get back to comping?Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...

            I hate unnecessary bumping.
EG saying "it's not working" post after post after post
 thank you!
 great prize
could do with one of these etc etc etc
But! When someone is bumping for a valid reason:
 T&Cs
 Extra prize info
 Answering questions
Saying the comp has finished so others also press expired so it's removed from the main board quicker etc etc etc it's a valid bump and the poster should not be "told off"
Xpurple had a valid bump on the other thread, maybe it was incorrect info who knows, but it was valid
Only my opinion by the way, everyone else has their own A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0 A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0

            Hi everyone
Remember comping's fun. Let's just enjoy doing it and helping each other. If doing that means posting to add extra info about a competition, that's fine, that's what the board's about and there's no need for it to become a source of problems or a reason to "tell people off".
I'm going to close this thread now so everyone can get on with comping.
