Ok this appears to be turning into a thread to have a go at one particular don't bump again...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0 -

I'm not new here and I don't get it either (as I posted earlier in this thread)!:rotfl::T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
Here is another example look at the times the so called bump has been removed but by the times you can see it will have still been on the first page.

As it seems the majority of forum members want these don't bump posts to stop maybe its time someone looked at it. Most of the time there is no reason for it and also it would be best if there was a bump button so moderators could judge if something was bumped for no reason. If bumping a post isn't bothering most of us, which it shouldn't if you have clicked thanks and entered, then why are the majority ignored in favour of the few who seemed to be bothered by everything. But like the other threads where many show their dismay at it happening it will be deleted because the few will complain.
I would be more concerned about the very irritating habit some have of saying "this is a dupe, hang on I'll go check" and then come back to say "edit, its here" or "edit, its ok its not". Can't people please check if its a dupe first before posting lol There thats my whine for the day

And now one where the bump you are objecting to isn't by the same person?Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Personally when it comes to things like this, I think you do have to give a little bit of leeway.
I'm talking about -
A) newbies who are finding their way around the forum and are learning how to use it, and say thanks without realising the "thanks" button is there.
When someone posts a valid point about a prize (i.e the fur one yesterday) and lets others know about it, so that they can make up their mind about entering or not.
And C) When someone comes on thanking a poster who devotes a lot of time and effort into posting competitions for us to have a go at. Everybody likes to feel appreciated sometimes.
While it can get a bit annoying for those who subscribe to threads getting updates all the time. For a new user especially it must be rather off putting, when they think that being polite and actually typing "thanks" warrants a telling off, but I think when the poster who has "bumped" is someone who is trying to help or get help or is praising someone for all their effort is getting told off it really isn't on (if it wasn't for those people we wouldn't have this wonderful hobby).
It's all supposed to be a bit of fun, and I think that it sours it a bit for everybody.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -
This is the one that gets me mad - 'whilst it's on the first page, I'd just like to say...' it's only on the first page because people are bumping it up to the top. It is def. still a bump!Rolybear makes a good point, a bump is not a bump if a reply to a post is on page one of the competition forum.Thank you all who post.0 -
Oh my, personally I cannot see what the problem is here. OK I see a problem with bumps of "Thanks for posting" or "would love to win this" but when people reply to a thread with extra information what exactly is the problem with a thread being bumped with that extra info? For example the fur one, it is relevant. Also travel ones were people reply to point out things like flights not included. I am grateful to have that information in the thread.
Surely people aren't subscribed to every single thread are they? So, it goes back to the top so what is the problem here? Am I missing something?
The way this is going I can see all new posts will be locked then nobody can reply :mad:The best things in life are free.....0
