Well you never know eh. Put a jumper on eBay before for 10 then 5 quid (didn't sell) and now 99p. It now has bids just over a tenner :)

  • Well, sfd happened today because I was at work. Not yesterday as needed milk and stock cubes. Oh wanted a beer - stayed strong and didn't give in! I've planned all meals to end of month based on food we have in and have £10 of budget left - really trying to see if we can do it! Oh been making cakes so that's a help. Nearly eaten them all now though!

Got a fancy dress party I forgot about on Saturday. So need to sort outfit and pay for some drinks. I haven't got any fancy dress stuff at home (don't think my dd stuff will fit me!) so was thinking Amy winehouse. Have all make up and can get wig and tattoos for less than £10 if I'm lucky.
If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money cannot buy. :)
  • If I'd do it the other way round there'd be nothing left.

    Yeah, that sounds familiar . . . :o

Thanks to all who commented. I don't have an issue working out the budgets, but those "needs" do slip in easily don't they? Next month it will be over payments first, and then living within my means.

Angelpye - your post about your friends reminded me of my dear friend who, although we don't talk about the detail of our finances, is frugally minded and the best chum to go charity/thrift shopping with. She is great at being totally honest with me about whether something suits me (in a lovely way) and always asks if I need it before I buy it.

Ah what a star! Gold dust friend! Will you share her?!

I stopped going shopping with friends a looong time ago. I find I make much better style choices when I'm on my own (although for many years not good financial choices . . . ahem!) Too often people tell you something looks nice because they would like to wear it but wouldn't because of shape/style. I do window shop with friends every now and then, but I almost never buy.

Probably shouldn't be talking about shopping should we . . . off to find the shoppers anonymous board :rotfl:

Hi all typing this on an acquired kindle, love it. Spent most of day at hospital with d3 she's ok but was having minor problem which when you are due in a couple of days becomes a bit more urgent. Anyway both famished afterwards so went to cafe and had fish and chips paid for by d3 and then went home so a spend free day for me going now as not much battery life left

Not been doing very well this month at all. Been feeling very down as have changed job (not by choice) and been feeling really low and lethargic. Not been bothering to tidy up the flat leads to not being bothered to make a meal leads to getting a takeaway leads to feeling sorry for myself and buying crap etc etc. etc. It's a vicious circle!

I have recognised the problem though and am determined not to make the same mistakes in May (although I can hear Kat's voice in my head saying "why wait until May?! ha ha) so I won't... The grand tidy up and declutter shall start tomorrow. Tidy flat, tidy mind, tidy bank balance and this time I really am determined to make a real go of it. I WILL get there :)

Gonna have a duvet day today and stay home sick. Went to bed at 9 last night with the shakes fever and a dodgy stomach. Feel rotten but at least it'll be a SFD.

Regarding budgeting, I DEFINITELY do it kat's way. I've worked out roughly how much will be in my next pay, I know exactly how much my outgoings are so I have a rough idea of how much extra I can pay towards my credit cards. If I was to use karmachilovething's method (which I admit I did for years), nothing extra would ever get paid off because I'd always find things I needed-turns out you don't need most of that stuff! I love making that extra transfer on payday, knowing that everything else is covered. Definitely try to work out a budget karmachilovething, it'll make the rest of the month much easier!

Hmm I think this is where I've been going wrong - I try no to spend anything and then plan to pay of extra towards CCs at the end of the month, but there is never anything left! I'm finalising my budget for May now & will make an extra payment when I get paid tomorrow & report in here when I've done it :) there - I'm committed to doing it now!! You can all shout at me if I don't!!!

Rubbish day money-wise yesterday - budgetted for £25 spend, but actually ended up spending £50.9 :( following a rubbish day at work, I decided to cheer myself up by going jumping, which cost more than planned (but did the trick!)

However, £11 of my spend was on posting sold Ebay items, so not all hideous

    Have a good day everyone
