Morning everyone
Hope you feel better soon Thrifty
Sarah147 I know exactly how you feel, I went mad earlier in the month, and although Im paid 4 weekly and just been paid I only have whats in my purse to get by for the next 3 weeks if I want to get things back on top, so I cant afford to buy much at all this pay period (thats after paying all bills thank goodness) thankfully food shouldnt be too much of a problem as I have plenty in, but what will test me is the birth of DD3's child, as I really want to do something special for her, but I think she will have to wait a bit, she knows this as well, but it makes me feel bad as I should have know better:mad: anyway back on the frugal track now and I will be back to normal after next pay day and debt busting will begin again in earnest.
Raining here this morning so not going out in the garden until later, so will get on with knitting some baby boots:)
oh and my electric usage has gone down to 31 units and gas was only 1 unit, so pleased with myself, could get the electric down a bit more though, so will try a bit harder this week

Good Morning Chickdess..
I went to bed at 2130 last night. How sad is that! I am only 30. BUT I LOVE MY BED!!!
Feeling a little queazy today, very warm in my office and it will be a spend day. Brother arrives today, food to be gathered beforehand and packed lunches for days out to be made up. We have the Hampton Court Palace / St Pauls Cathedral, The London Dingeons :T and National Gallery in our sites. There is a free concert on Friday we shall attend should we have time and a coffee event on Friday night as my brother is obsessed with the stuff and it's currently National Cofee Week...
So I shan't be back to work until May 2nd after today..( WHOOP WHOOP!) and cannot wait to move house on Monday. This is going to cost me £50 but I have a massive van for 2 hours and hopefully can do it in one full swoop and not have to go back to the house.
Looks like Sunday night will be a seriously mad cleaning session.
Question = realistically the landlady has to replace all her carpets as she is moving soon. I have spilled numerous things on my bedrom carpet (bike oil / tea / lipstick / more tea and cat sick...:rotfl:).. how much should I assume she will take off my deposit for the carpet considering it has been there for 10 years prior to me moving in??? I am worried she will keep it all and I need at least £350 of the £433 deposit returned to cover bike maintanence...Any thoughts..?
Hugs to Thrifty...:grouphug:
Sarah147 - you are right:p. Time to clean up and clear out in order to start May on a very good note. Incidentally I am sripting May today so it will be out in good time to get EVERYBODY listed and numbered before the 1st...
Abundant - where are you? Everything okay in The Land of Oz..?
RosieCheeksBlossom - when you are this happy about paying off debt and throwing extra cash at it you know you are on a winning streak. I am DESPERATE to know how much I have this month just so I can figure out how long it will take to get rid of the bike loan (£1223).... Grr!
NannyGaldys - did you theive that Kindle when you say "acquired"...?:rotfl:
Mrs "Pregnant" Toast - I am looking at Mortgages at the moment. Very glad you are heading for a repayment mortgage!!!
KarmaChi - you have given me an idea for next months challenge! Mwah ha ha ha.........:D
BouncyMinky - I have been called Amy Whinehouse on occasion. Although I wasn't in costume....:(
Righto - I gotta work. More later for NSK!

morning all,
Kat - you're probably best just asking your landlady outright how much she intends to keep so you can work from that rather than guesstimate an amount.
Well, after jiggling the finances last night I managed to find £1,000 to pay towards the CC (£180 came from Hubby) It means I have no leeway with my weekly budgets whatsoever and I haven't put anything away for emergencies but I really needed to pay a huge chunk off in order to stay on target for a DF June.
Received a £10 Mr A giftcard yesterday after I complained about a pizza I'd bought so going to use it to do a top up shop today. CAts really need some biscuits and lasagne sheets, after having made lasagne sauce and cheese sauce last night only to realise I'd run out of lasagne sheets. Will probably pick up some other bits but I'm not going over £10.0 -
Morning all,
Well yesterday spent most of the day feeling like someone had filled my head with "no more big gaps" brain failed and soooo tired. DS came home from preschool with a raging temperature so had to make a trip to Mr S to get some more calpol/brufen last night. Was planning to go this afternoon anyway with him in tow which wouldn't have been fair on the grotty wee man.
Thrifty - hope your duvet day knocks your lurgy on the head too!
Anyway food budget is blown, as is petrol but I did fill up at Mr S last night as it is way cheaper than Mr T which is closer to home. At least 2/3 of the tank will be used in May so I may get off on a technicality!I have stocked up on food a bit so hopefully May will be £225 or under!
So nearly May, budget in place - in my head at least. Up to now I have been chucking credit card repayment in the savings plan while on 0% - am wondering if I should be brave and pay off £2750 on pay day - that would leave £1450 for the next pay day. Technically it makes no difference but once its paid over the money is gone along with the temptation and the safety net. However the encouragement of "only" having under £1500 to go may be the motivation I need.... Will have a think and a chat with DH tonight - see what he thinks. When we get there it will be the first time we have been debt free in all our 14 years together. First time Ive thought that and its given me a bit of "moment".....
Kat re the move hope all goes well and smoothly! Not sure what the carpet outcome will be - is it worth hiring a rug doctor - would be about £40 with the chemicals I think and they work brilliantly for us with our dog cat and kids!! You can get them at homebase, morrisons and johnsons cleaners around here.
Right work to do - love to all,

I was going to suggest 1001 Stain remover, but if there is lots of stains a rug doctor might be more reliable. I've usually found that as long as you've clearly made an effort people are usually reasonable. So it's whether £40 is a worthy investment.NinjaSavingKat wrote: »KarmaChi - you have given me an idea for next months challenge! Mwah ha ha ha.........:D

I think you should pay it off! :rotfl:
Re the carpet. The landlady's son apparently had a go with his "carpet clearner" machine and it didn't make any difference. Do I trust him (as he is a bit on an OCD clearner) or try the Rug Dr..?“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
