Angelpye - your post about your friends reminded me of my dear friend who, although we don't talk about the detail of our finances, is frugally minded and the best chum to go charity/thrift shopping with. She is great at being totally honest with me about whether something suits me (in a lovely way) and always asks if I need it before I buy it.

Oooops just placed an approved food order so food spend has gone up by £26.96 (including delivery but I had a £10 credit) Hoping it keeps the bigger boys happy for snacks etc.

  • Hi everyone
Quick update while DH watches football :)
Another SFD for me :j was super organised (for me) and actually managed to make sandwiches from stores this morning
I've found that by taking filled drink bottle with squash to work, I can fill it up throughout the day - killing 2 birds with one stone - more liquid (non-alcoholic) means less munchies & better mood

    Hope you're all ok

Re friends and money. I'm quite lucky, I've got friends and workmates that I'm quit open with. Ok they don't know the tiny details but that's why I'm here :).

Hubby changed our mortgage deal today so were back on a new fixed and even save £50 compared to the last one.

Feel a lot better now after an productive evening. While hubby cooked the dinner for a change I had time to vacuum etc and plant my seedlings (toms, peppers, chillies) in bigger pots for the conservatory.

Need to post an item tomorrow that sold for a fiver. Hopefully also can soon cash a tenner from topcashback and get enough points soon for a amazon voucher from ipsos. Lost a bit track now of NSDs and spending details (damage limitation now, not too bad though, know roughly where I stand), but shouldn't need anything till Friday when I have to bake for FIL. Got my numbers sorted for next month already though.

Just realised I haven't caught up yet on the weekends posts, better do that soon.

    Evening all :j,

Didn't check in all weekend as it was pretty busy here, but NSD for Sunday which make only 8 :( (as suggested previously Fri and Sat were spending days). SD today as I had to get the money out as I am going away tomorrow for 3 days (work related). I have to pay for a bus ticket tomorrow and on Thursday so already claiming another 2 spend days. I hope I like the food provided as this would be the only reason to spend the money. Everything else is paid for by work. We shall see...

AuntyRuby, I also eat cake for breakfast with cup of coffee to use it up and it makes a difference to my usual brekkie. I think it's a good idea.:T
On friends front, I have mine divided into groups as well like some of you guys, but wouldn't feel comfortable talking about my finances with any of them... they(my friends) tell me almost everything as I am very good listener, but doesn't always work the other way around.

Have to finish packing and other bits and bobs and ideally I should hit the sack at the 'normal' time tonight so I can get some decent sleep.

    Night-night all.

    Onwards and upwards

I should start looking at the next month's numbers as this month has been an absolute financial disaaaster  ...
KAT, my wardrobe could definitely do with some update too, but it would have to be before my DFD :doh:as that's not for another 4 years  so my clothes most likely won't last that long and I might end up looking like a homeless ... no offence.

Plenty to sort out and get better organized... I can only try.

  • Evening All,
Not checked in for a few days, Saturday was a spend day, out for lunch, food shop (went over budget) and a night on the town. Sunday and today been SFD's. Sig all updated.

Hopefully be a cheap week, I've got food, plus doing overtime tomorrow & wednesday evening so that'll go towards credit card.

    Ehxx

  • Do people find it's better to do overpayments at the beginning of the month and then live on what's left? Or do you prefer to wait till the end of the month and see what's left?

I do the second one, but I'm thinking that I would be more effective at debt busting if I did the first one.

Most definitely you need to look at transferring to Option Number 1... Otherwise you will spend as you will making your debts your last priority whereas they should be your Number One priority...

I work out my "Must Have" outgoings that I cannot avoid..(rent, travel to work, food, phone bill, cinema and bill minimum payments)...from there an emergency £25.

    The rest goes to overpayments.

If you continue as you are you debt free day will get further away...even ensure token payments over and above what you HAVE to pay will help in bringing interest (if there is any ) down..

An extra £25-£50 at the beginning of the month... then build up to where you are comfortable to pay a lot more..

  • Evening all.... busy day for me and defo not an SFD. Got a quote for new tyres and brake pads on the bike. Only a mere £349!!!...I should be able to cover this entirely with what is coming back from the rental deposit but I have ruined her carpet ( me and Dorothy kicking over teacups etc)...so I have fingers crossed!

£30 on food for the brothers arrival on Wednesday which he may well contribute towards.... but I don't mind as he is broke and hasn't had a holiday in years...

I get to sleep in tomorrow... until 0800! Whoop!!!

Right.. short and sweet today.....If it helps I tell everyone who will listen about my loans and my debt repayments. Seriously.. I am so anti debt, so worried by some peoples "ostrich head in the sand" tactic and determined that no one should suffer unnecessarily... so all my friends know what I am up to. No one is safe. NSK SEE's AND HEAR's EVERYTHING... :rotfl:

    Onwards and Upwards!!!
