  • I'm back in the land of the living following my allergy attack so sorry for missing so many posts. The good news is that being slightly out of it meant I couldn't spend any more money so 2 more SFD for me....bringing my total up to 11!

Congratulations Mrs Toast! Have you started thinking of names yet?

Well done Shady2307 & Thriftylass How inspirational to hear about paying off cards & moving out of debt. Good luck with your debt preventions (I love this idea!).

  • Morning all

Well done on all the SFDs - you are all doing a great job!

I can count another SFD yesterday :) which I'm very proud of bringing me to 5 this month, and I expect another one toay. I have just bought 2 milk from the shop down the road from work, but I used the kitty money which the team contribute to, so I really am not counting this spend today!

I think I'm getting better at going into shops and just buying what I need, rather than adding other stuff that I really don't need (neither does my waistline!)

Re 5 year plan, I'd love to achieve the following:
    • Debt free in 2 years
    • Have a child
    • Move house
    • Plan celebration for DH's 50th bday in 2 years time
Just the minor things, eh?! Think I really need to put a plan together if all of that is going to happen. Hmm food for thought over the weekend

Anyway, as Kat would say, ONWARDS

Have a good day everyone x

    Good Day one and all...

Looks like I am not the only one who has not been able to log in until late today! Everybody okay though....? It's nearly the weekend!:T:T

I broke my SFD run yesterday to get my fakey nails taken off. What a palava. Shan't get them ever again. Waste of money only lasting a week until the grow - at least I can type like a demon now!

Pay day is too far from home I think. Trying to figure out if I can get rid of my motorbike loan in full sweep - £1089 - or something very close... doubt it's going to happen this month. Think after all deductions I might have about £500 to throw at it.... if my wage is similar to last month..Boo Hiss. Better than nothing I guess.

Cancelling my work Union subscription this month - £12 out of my wage every month over the last 6 years is..£864. Gutted. Waste of money. haven't used them once..(sods law says I upset someone within a week of cancelling it)....

Righto - enough....I think I have been warbling too much about me and not enough about this challenge. I am going to be updating my own blog thread a lot more often now so if you want to keep a check in please do...

I look forward to wiping more off the front page...

Hubby finally got the extra money from work (not sure how much just expenses or bonus too?, will pry a bit tonight and see if anything can go to savings or paying his dad back for money towards the car). But he said we'll get the engagement ring search started now :).

Hey kickuptheasstime, I'll be your debt busting buddy :) I have a similar amount to clear by the same date! I have a plan to take me to the end of this year (see signature) which I'm hoping to bust by November :) Then next year I'm snowballing all the way!!! When one card is cleared, I up the direct debit to another card by that amount so that I keep paying out the same amount each month, and my debts get paid quicker! How do you plan to do it?

Regarding the 5 year plan, I haven't a clue :) I flit between the idea of spending a few years living here and saving a deposit to buy some where, and renting somewhere much nicer in an area I want to be in. Both options take up most of my monthly salary, although right now my debts take up most of my salary so it would be nice to see some benefit from working! Once I'm debt free (December 2014), I'll spend the next 4 wages filling an ISA, then spend the next few months after that filling the following year's ISA (which will become my emergency fund) so a move before summer 2015 isn't really on the cards. I can afford to batter this dilemma around for a while longer!

On the friends front, what a bummer kat. I have a friend who is quite draining. We've been friends for a lot of years, but every so often I have to take a step back. Maybe you could take a step back while you reassess your friendship? Buy yourself a little time before making a decision? Sometimes these things work themselves out.

As for this month, I'm still on track (only just  and may struggle next week). I've had one minor food spend since I last updated....
    SFD: 11 or 12/20
    Food: £76.11/£80
    Petrol: £50/£50
    Misc: £79.74/£100

    Evening all

Spent an hour in the dentists chair this morning so I am feeling very sorry for myself. Have now got my tooth held together with temporary filling so I have to be very careful what I eat for the next two weeks until it can be properly sorted.

Did my spreadsheets last night and its all looking OK, hopefully I will get through the next 10 days without any unforseen expenses!

Like Abundant I feel like its been a bit of a rollercoaster this week. Glad its Saturday tomorrow and I can be very lazy (well apart from the cleaning and ironing etc!)

Enjoy the sunshine everyone - hope it lasts!
  • Evening all - well Im ready for them. MIL FIL and niece land in the next hour. The house is tidy and the food is in. I am knackered and the plan to do 5 hours work today went to the tip with a tonne of junk from the garden..... Hey ho
