Thrifty - have you tried the reward chart route? Also a gate across the door so even if they get out of bed they cant get any further. That combined with "Get back into bed" at loud volume I think worked for us!!

He's only 2 though not sure if he'll get the reward chart, but it's worth a try. I'll make one today. Got a couple of stickers etc already in the house I could use.

Got a gate at the stairs but don't really want to buy another one. I'll try the chart and printed some advise out for hubby that states, to leave them settle themselves.

Congrats to Mr and Mrs Toast. Thrifty, we went through this with my son (many years ago!). It ended up in a huge battle every night but we persevered and eventually something just clicked and one night he stopped doing it and never looked back. Got to get your OH on board though - he is just making it worse!

Oh five years time. The kids will be 17 and 19 - now thats scary. My dream would be to have my eldest son well enough to be in education of some sorts on a regular basis and me going out to work. I would have all the debts paid off and would be chipping away at the mortgage. We would have enough money to go on holiday and buy a few treats without worrying about it. Is all that possible? I have no idea at the moment.

Is it just me or is April seeming like a looonnng month? My poor dogs skin allergy is playing up and that has cost me extra that I didnt budget for - not taking out of the emergency fund though, will try and juggle somewhere else.

Kat are you home and snoozing now? Its horrible outside, windy and raining so the perfect afternoon for snoozing I think.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Toast, I have 3 DD's but they all grown up, and beautiful in mind and body so I must have done something right - oh and none have CC's or debt, only mortgages:)

Another SFD today, and I get paid tomorrow so I can work my new budgets out, well allow myself £10 a week for food until I have eaten my pantry and freezer stocks up. The only thing I want to buy this month is a teddy bear mattress cover from Dun*elm for next winter, oh and some baby bits for DD3 who is due in another week:) she doesnt know if its a girl or boy so we are all waiting to find out:)

    Congratulation Mrs and Mr Toast!!!

We're trying atm too, we'll see how long this one'll take ;). Had another NSD and made fake milk up (powder) for the morning. But need to hit the shops tomorrow. That was 4 in a row i think a record for me. Had a chat with hubby about the wee man's sleep and tonight should hopefully work better as we're trying to sing from the same hymn sheet :). Also had a chat with work mates and got some great advice that hubby hopefully took in too.

    Hi everyone :-)
Karmachilovething - you are spot on re supporting local businesses, it's one of the things I feel I can make a positive difference with. Especially if it's food and it's produced locally.

Massive congrats to the Toasts, sooo lovely to hear your news.

Oooo a 5 year plan...preferably be doing something I love for a job and have knocked years off the mortgage. I really feel the mortgage area is something that could be achieved as I've completely curbed my spending since following this thread and loans such as my student loan (taken out 19, yes 19 years ago!) and double glazing loan will be paid by then.

A SFD today woopee! And still within food budget which is fab.

    See you tomorrow evening :-)

  • Evening all,
Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Toast, what lovely news to share. NSK - I like your plans especially the saving 10% of your wages and letting it build up over time.
Had to do a food shop today, but spent less than £30 as still got a lot of meat in freezer so that should keep me going a while. Fridge is full now!!!! Aiming to come in under food budget this month.
Off to bed shortly, been awake at 6am every morning for the last week and don't know why. not even been able to roll over and go back to sleep when I have had the chance either GRRR.... xxx

  • Ohh little toasty girl. I like baby girls. Pretty clothes! I had a sfd today as oh was ill and I was at work. Off tomorrow with ds as he's still not well bless him. Don't need food so hoping to be sfd tomorrow by going to rhyme time and park. Then just need to sort a picnic for Saturday when going to a colleagues leaving day at his caravan.

    Evening everyone

Thanks for all the congratulations. We had a hard time last year having a miscarriage so feel like we've been rewarded for persevering and being strong.

Only problem with expecting a girl is that I'm desperate to buy girls clothes :rotfl:

Some other good news. Had a SFD today :j:jI think we should be able to have a SFD tomorrow and then have Saturday to do my food shop. Sunday we are planning to go to a local National Trust property for free :T

Everyone's 5 year plans sound great. I would love to be debt free, have emergency savings and be in a position to move house. Is that too much considering I'll have 2 small children:rotfl:

  • So sorry that I haven't posted for ages.

Lovely news about the little girl Mrs Toast - the clothes available aremuch more interesting than for little boys!

II have been very good - not spending too much, reigning in my spending impulses, decluttering and using stuff up.
We're going to end this month in a good position for once!
    Seriously money saving
