That is the same number as they need, it is a big cohort but the school sort that out.
One thing that did surprise me though and which I don't remember from my older boys, is that in the letter it gives the cost of the meal and transport (£34) and says that includes a glass of wine. Now, all my older kids like a drink, as do we, but I am not sure that they should be doing this. I am not sure it sends the right message but I am in two minds. Is it the norm?0 -
No alcohol at Y11 prom and at Y13 it's a bar but they will need ID.
At Y11 prom anyone drunk was turned away or sent home.
£34 - I assume they get a sit down meal for that. I think Y11 prom was £15 for a buffet plus £11 ish for limo.
Think Y13 prom is £15 with an additional £5 for bus. Not sure as DD just said she needed to take deposit in a few weeks ago.

Yes, three courses, glass of wine (!) and transport there and back. The hotel is about four miles away. We are going for his suit next weekend, which will be good timing as he can wear it to a family wedding at the end of May first!0

Thanks for the ideas guys. We might hire a suit & although the school offers a coach at additional cost he won't use it as no one else in his class is either so looks like I will be driving him. Question - do they wear waistcoats & cravats or is it just a normal suit & tie?
The meal itself is £38 for 2 courses & disco with a small photo included. Soft drinks are extra & no alcohol.0 -

If they're year 11 I wouldn't have thought it'd be real wine, it'll be a non-aloholic version surely?
If they're sixth form and nearly all 18 I don't see a problem.0 -
Whatever happened to simplicity?
Throwing on your ra-ra skirt, dumping a bottle of vodka in the fruit punch and partying the night away in your balloon festooned, dusty school hall?

It doesn't say non alcoholic, it just says on the letter " meal includes a glass of wine" They are not breaking the law, as you do not have to be 18 to consume alcohol with a meal at a function but I am on the fence about the message it sends.0 -

I thought that only happened in American films from the eighties...0 -

I wouldn't worry about it myself, most of them will have drunk alcohol in far less sensible situations already. This is a bit of practice at doing it the right way!0 -

I am not worried (it would be a bit hypocritical really!;)) but I was surprised when I read the letter.0
