I got married on my 40th....met my hubby 1 year and 4 days before...I was dragged out for a drink by my son on the Saturday night--met my lovely hubby that night and never looked back..celebrated my 39th birthday together ..he had a heart attack 2 years and week after we wed but that has meant we have spent every day together since. I have never been happier--and when they say life begins at 40--mine certainly did...I might be crazy but I'm not stupid....0

Walked up Ben Nevis. Walked back down and then scoffed a fish supper.0

I hope the weather was good so you could enjoy the fabulous views. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

It was actually one of the three sunny days that year, so great views from the top.0

I have decided what to do for my 40th and am so excited
My dad and stepmum have offered to have my boys for a long weekend. I am off to New York for 4 nights to stay with some old friends. I haven't seen them in years. Oh my god, it is going to be a blast, life really does start at 40

Don't get me wrong - I have been lucky in my life and travelled all over it's just that I realised when I tried to arrange my 40th that I was more likely to put myself out for my friends than they were for me.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

My 40th was a bit of a washout.
We had arranged to meet some friends we had made through an online bike forum we (or should i say i) had joined.
The day of the meet was the day after my birthday so we booked a room in nice hotel. My eldest son although had left home offered to look after his younger siblings and away we went the night before the meet on the bike.
We had a nice meal, just got settled in our hotel room when we had a phone call from my oldest daughter who was living 30 miles away from home. She had a garbled phone call from her youngest sister that there was trouble at home.
Someone had to get home to see what the problem was. Although i was ready to come home hubby suggested i stay in the hotel and he'd drive back home as we had still got this meet the next day and there was no point us both being shattered next day so i stayed. I was lonely, couldnt sleep, worried, and all emotions mixed into one. The Queen Mother had died earlier on in the day and i lay and watched endless hours of the News being played all through the night.
Hubby got back to me during the morning and we were almost too late for the bike meet. It should have been a lovely occasion but it was marred by dissappointment/anger/worry of what was going on at home.
Yes, it was a 40th i'll never forget (no matter how much i would prefer to). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
