How did you celebrate your 40th?

I am fast approaching my 40th birthday :j

Jumping for joy as frankly it will be a relief to wave goodbye to my 30s. It has not been an overly wonderful decade.

I want to kick off the next decade on a positive note and am looking for some ideas to celebrate my special day.

What did you do?

I intend to do the same as my other 39 birthdays.. run around after my family all day the ungrateful lot won't even make me a cuppa probably. I'll do food for visitors and go to bed about 10... I loathe my birthday, I always have

I am taking my sons there in the summer. So need something bit closer to home unfortunately.

    I also love that film.

Nothng. I was working 200 miles from home and even if I''d been at home I'd have done nothing. You need somebody/people to do stuff with really. Didn't do anything for my 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th or 50th. Nobody's ever interested in doing anything with/for me so they slide by.

I think, for my 30th, I might have bought a cheesecake and stayed in bed all day - and ate the whole cheesecake with a big spoon.

I went to NYC too. I was determined to turn 40 there and had an amazing week which ended up being a fortnight due to the volcanic ash cloud. Although a little stressful being stuck it turned out fine and as the 2nd week was a bonus we made sure we enjoyed every extra day!

Hitting 40 was so much fun, its the years after that haven't been quite so thrilling! Enjoy your birthday whatever you do.

You should have gone to New York and had a proper cheesecake!!
  • I hated turning 30 - that was when I first realised I wasn't a young thing anymore, leaving my 20's behind!

I think I'll head back to NY for my 50th - if I can wait that long (6 years to go!).
