I had a big party for family and friends and then the day afterwards DH and I went on the Orient Express to Venice, and thus, my lifelong love affair with that wonderful city began.0

I'm 'doing' Vegas this year for my big five ohhhh! Have been several times before (family live there) but this time don't have to pay for my kids! Bring it on!
When I hit 40 (seems 5 minutes ago), I had a party in France. It was wonderful! Spent the actual birthday on the North Breton coast with French friends. A couple of days later my American family flew over to France and we partied on down for a week - loved it!
Just re-read my post - think I need to grow up0 -
Oh wow that sounds incredible. Did you enjoy Moscow? That amazing city became my second home for much of the 90s. I have many beautiful memories of being there and made life long friends too.
Yes! Had the good fortune to be with a tour guide who'd lived out there for a number of years and told us some wonderful stories.
Also, we were there May 8th/9th (Victory Day) so it was pretty festive. We went walking round Red Square just as the midnight bells chimed on St Basil's and the Russians were in mega party mode.
There's some pictures on my Flickr link if you're interested.0 -
More years ago than I wish to remember I celebrated my 21st at 'The Roof Gardens' restaurant and nightclub in Kensington, London. It was a really magical evening. Fantastic roof top gardens with flamingos, the food and drink was awesome, as was the dancing into the early hours. A truly lovely place to celebrate a special occassion with a really brilliant ambience
Whichever way you decide to celebrate your birthday I hope it is special for you OP. You always come across as being really nice though your posts and I think you deserve a great birthday celebration.0 -

Oh you are taking me back now. The parties I have enjoyed on Red Square are legendary. We might even have been there at the same time hey, what a small world it is
I got engaged on Red Square many moons ago, which at that time was the most romantic moment of my life. Thick snow and the Kremlin in the back drop as my now ex asked me to marry him. I was blown away. Anyway I digress.......
I have no idea how to access the link you mentionbut would love to see your photos.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
I'm 40 next year and plan to go to new york too, and then onto toronto / niagara falls,
I am going to book it this year as soon as the dates are released, giving me 11 months to save up / pay off, and maybe give it to hubby for xmas, but have it booked that we go for my 40th next year. 2 birds, one stone and all that :-)0 -
I went to Finland and spent my 40th husky mushing. My boyfriend had surprised me with a Tiffany necklace, and then we had an afternoon with the huskies. We had a room with its own sauna, perfect. Shame we didn't see the Northern lights but can't have everything."If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.":DMiss Mona, The Best Little *****house in Texas0

I'm amazed and jealous of all of those things you've all done.
I couldn't afford to do any of them.
My 40th was a couple of years ago, I don't remember what I did. No regrets from me though, I have my family and they are great.
I am a little bit jealousFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
