Damn! I just got scammed in a cable buy, So please.. can anyone direct me to a cheap and reliable cable to unlock N70.

    Thanks.
  • So i purchased what was supposed to be a 13 pin data cable, instead was a 6 pin. I have contacted the seller about it but they haven't returned any emails. Anyway, i tried the cable to see where it would get me. I was able to read the phone, make logs but it said my phone was corrupted, figures. I'm panicking at this point, so at my rational state, i managed to change the com port setting to 9 ( it was at 8). Read my phone, this time it did not say it was corrupt, instead it showed the results. I clicked on WR Backup and saved the copy in a different folder. However, i'm afraid that if i click on Make Log, it would corrupt my phone again. So...what am i to do???? HELP!
  • Okay i just want to say that i took a risk and i clicked Make Log and i was able to successfully unlock my phone!!!!

    It works!!!

After seeing SP Data Corrupted for 4 times and once the cellphone said it had to be sent to the manufacturer.

But a few tries later... now I have an unlocked N70. Perfect.
  • ive already tried that BB5 on my fone and work fine to me! i leave here in the philippines and almost a year since a bought this fone wanting to unlock from my network and finally that software made my life so easy and save money heh!

to all human messing of unlocking thier unit wid this BB5, you can try what i did to mine (sorry for the bad english).
first, use full set pin DKU-5 (but my dku cable wrote on the package sed DKU-50 but its still work on my 6680)
second, remove simcard and remove memory card.
because on my so many attemp i just removed the sim only and memory card still on the fone and i suffer headache for the hole day trying to unlock!
and then when i finaly removed the memory card the rest is history heh!

ok! just removed simcard and memory card and use DKU-5 Full Set Pin not the DKU-5 6 pin ok?! claro that humain?

NOTE* its ok if your dku-5 is a clone make sure its a full set pin. and you will experience error and restarting again and again your unit but its ok unless the unit is not fully dead! just try and try read fone make log if error come then try again till u die. just what i did its not a joke ive experience all that error when trying to unlock my fone. now my fone fully unlock just like g33za did. thanks!

  • Hi there,

I read with interest your (Browntoa's) report of how you managed to unlock and debrand your Nokia phone. I have another BB5 handset, the 6301, and had it unlocked at a shop, but the firmware is still Orange-based (I'm on O2) and it seems to have some of the functions tied to the Orange GPRS/internet access settings, meaning I can browse via O2, but not check email or use the much-vaunted Wi-fi capabilities of the handset - a right annoyance... have you got any advice on how to replace the firmware with O2 or neutral firmware? Using the Nokia software updater, I just end up with the same branding as before, it seems to be able to detect it and choose the firmware accordingly, even with an O2 SIM in it, it doenloads the Orange firmware again.

    Any advice much appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Sabine
