  • Noticed that Bernardos/Argos are doing a promotion where if you donate old toys to Bernardos you get a £5 Argos voucher to spend on new toys (£5 off £35 spent) - very useful coming up to Christmas! So I retrieved 2 bin bags stuffed full of unused toys out of the garage and swapped for 3 x Argos vouchers :) While I was in the garage I also got out a bag of clothes to take to cash for clothes, and then on the way home stopped off at the mother-in-laws to pick some free apples off her tree for an apple pie. Feeling pleased with my profitable clearing out day :)

:) Must be some kind of in-house record as I bought a book from one chazzer on Saturday afternoon, started it yesterday evening and finished it today. Cracking good murder mystery. It could have gone to another chazzer this afternoon, but for the rain, but I'll do a donation bag tomorrow and get it out of here.

Have also taken 3 books back to the library and disciplined myself not to look at any more books until I have caught up with some of those on the premises.

Still have loads of things lying around the place but will now head to the kitchen and get a big pot of chili on the go, which will sustain me for a few days with various veggies ringing the changes.

Had a swither about the item which I decided was no longer mendable, but held it up to the light, realised it really was more holy than righteous, and then put it into the rag bag.

Keep up the good work, troops. GQ xx

I had a 'I feel ill' day today.

    Blergh.

But I did photograph two items for e.b.o.y. - a bookcase and a military locker. Now I just need to summon up the energy to put them on e.b.o.y. And I did a whole bin bag full of shredding and got through three episodes of Law and Order: SVU which is technically decluttering the Sky+ box, isn't it?

Hope your chilli was nice, GQ!

:D Chili was very nice, thank you.

Pretty thrifty as well, 500g of Liddly mince streeetttched with a large diced carrot and 4 tbsp of porridge oats, and the red peppers came cheap from my Magic Greengrocer - they each had a small area of damage which meant that they couldn't be sold full-price. Few seconds' work with a sharp knife to trim them. I get a whole carrier bagful of fruit and veg for £1 so not complaining if a wee bit of trimming has to go into the compost.

Am on leave this week and not feeling 100% either, but will potter about at home. Weather's not gardening-friendly but I have some errands and chores to do, plus plenty of books to read and want to save some energy for going to my archery class in the early evening.

Hope anyone feeling a bit bleughh rallies and feels better later. GQ xx

ETA; just back from Reverse Shopping; took out the recyclables and a large donation bag to drop off at the chazzer. Did come back with fruit and veg but will be decluttering that into me over the next few days.

*** slinks in, hoping no-one will notice, hiding head in shame ***

My name's Angie and I am now in no doubt whatsoever that I am, at heart, a hoarder...

I was doing sooooo well this morning! Freecycled two vintage-but-damaged wedding dresses for someone else to make things with, and a bin bag full of wool & knitting patterns, cleaned & tidied round the conservatory door, then set off to the Tip with a bootload of rubbish... where I found & instantly snaffled up 3 bags of vintage designer clothes!

They will have to stay in the car for several days; the washing machine is - hopefully temporarily - out of action, and there's a mountain of domestic washing built up to deal with before I can tackle stuff for the business. I know it's getting really bad when you have to store stuff in the car, but I don't know where they've been, so don't want to bring them in before I can deal with them. There's well over £100-worth in there, and some utterly delightful items I may have to keep & wear myself... Having disposed of some current wardrobe occupants first, of course!

:o I really wish I lived somewhere with a tip like that. Ours is mostly full of rubbish, y'know? And they guard it with their life, as if you're a heathen for wanting a plank of wood for your allotment.

I have been out at archery and hit up two supermarkets and an Express store on my way home and have a bagful of food for less than 90p. C'mon, loaf of wholemeal for 9p?! It'd be rude not to............:rotfl:

But I really mustn't buy anything more this week to eat or I will be fresh food hoarding. I'm sure having been skint for so many years has left me with anxieties about where my next meal is coming from.

thriftwizard sounds like it was a bag waiting for you and meant to be, great find. I think you did really well. Me on the other hand:o

It was all going well, I loaded the 4 bin bags of clothes 2 bags of general stuff and a large bag with a dozen pairs of footwear into the car. Off we went to the charity shop and got a parking space outside. So far so good.
On my third and final trip in I noticed some very nice boots. Drawn to them and checked size, couldn't resist. Mid calf height with sensible sole and look new. As I waited to pay I noticed a really nice fleece jacket which on closer inspection was reversible.

So a bit of a fail on my intention of not buying for a while until I have finished decluttering at least.:o
  • :( Feeling very drained and unable to focus at the moment - not sure why. All I want to do is slump in front of the TV and watch.

Going to try focusing this afternoon with an hour of cleaning broken down into twenty minute sections. See if that helps.

Siegemode - maybe do a one in, two out policy :p Might help

:pseigemode, all you need to do is develop your shoe size to equal mine (9) and then you will find useable footwear in the chazzer about once a decade, despite looking regularly. Simples!

Actually, I was gutted last week when I saw 3 immaculate pairs of Hotter shoes in the chazzer, any of which would have been pefect but for being a size 5.........gahhhhhhh!!!!!

RadioHorse, when I'm feeling really bleugh, I sometimes even use the timer to set myself 10 minute slots, interspersed with 20 minute breaks. Somehow, knowing that your activiity is so curtailed makes it feel more do-able. Hope you soon feel better.

I'm on the home stretch of a decluttering project today, just a wee bit more to do, plus have de-fluffed under the bed with the vacuum, which was last done on (checks diary and blushes) err, in 2013. Dammit, I usually do that every few months, must be that getting older business with time just whizzing past.:o

Am having a lazy week pottering about at home, at town, at the library and visiting the odd friend. Not to mention shooting bow and arrows and reading thrillers. So nice to be able to take one's time about things rather than rushing hither and yon before and after w*rk.

Right, going to potter up the road in a minute to take tiffin with a pal and see what's happening in their world. Laters, GQ xx
