radio.. ring them.. they usually have a person who will collect.. they won't come today but will come pick up your stuff.. it can still go :)

Pigpen, these are just bags for life that we've filled up ourselves, not the plastic bag through the door type jobbies. Don't think they'll collect them, will they?

:) Ooofff, I'm as tired as a tired thing, but have been quite pleased with my pyromania. Got some more couch grass burned up before the rain came over (pertiddling down atm) and ran an errand and took some stuff back to various places.

Weather's set in nasty now so have grounded myself for the remainder of the day (came in at 4pm so not much of a hardship). If I can muster the energy later, I shall have everything off the bookshelf and give it a real Hard Stare, as in, d'you justify shelf-space? The sum and total of the space for books here is less than 6ft in three cubbyholes and one shelf in the wall-unit, so things which are deemed to be 'keepers' really have to be special.

Will shove an iron over a few things later on, and get the clothes airer down as there's not much room here at the best of times.

:o I decluttered my desk and found a £5 gift card a few days ago. How bad is that?:rotfl:And I ate supper at the table yesterday, not on a tray.....hmmmm, that was a novel experience, must do that more often.

Afternoon everyone. Have been child free all day :) So have been sorting out my charity bags. The Spare room I tackled the other night is cleared near enough. The floor can now be seen :T

I DID have a few bags for the CS from there and I have some from other parts of the house building up, however they won't all be going to the CS now. I will be going through those again and separating stuff up. Last year our area had a freecycle place in a local hall and people donated unwanted toys, clothes food etc to that for the needy in our area for christmas. My neighbour informed me this afternoon that they'll be doing this again this year so I'm going through all my CS bags to see what will be useful for that.

A lot of families in our area gained from this and were able to give their children extra presents, or some the only presents from Santa through this appeal. One lady actually got a new TV lamps etc for her house after it was burgled my lowlife a week before christmas, so she got 1st choice of what to chose from.
People donated baby cots moses baskets, walkie pens etc and a lot of people were grateful for these also. I'd rather give it to my own area TBH than send stuff to a charity shop where it will be sold for sometimes twice what the item cost!

Anyhow, I'll maybe start that tonight and give them to my neighbour to bring down as she's helping out in that appeal :)

Not started anything yet as such and before I do so was wondering how long things like shampoo and shower gel are good for. I want to sort stuff out in the bathroom including stocks bought for pennies and stored for future use. What I'd never worked out before buying them was just how long one bottle would last.

So does anyone know the answer please.

:) They're diluted detergents with preservatives in. I'd try using them and see if they seem OK and don't give you a rash, continue. I've never known either item to time-out but I have known skin creams to go peculiar, and roll on deos go all acid-y.

Have decluttered a fishcake from the freezer into myself, via defrosting and reheating, let me hasten to add. And I am about to park my desk chair in front of the bookshelf and haul everything outta there......should be interesting.

If I am not back within the hour, please assume I am reading and not buried (this shelf is under 3 ft long so not about to get buried under a book avalance). Onwards!!

I tend to exactly what GreyQueen suggests, and always allow myself time to test them when i don't have something majorly important in the morning.:p

    With one important exception:

Suncream and spray should never ever be used if it's more than a year old - even if the label says 24 months. I've learnt the lesson the hard way. I burnt when I was on holiday - serious burns with huge raised blisters on my face and shoulders. Do NOT recommend.

GQ and Radiohorse thank you, I managed a nice stash of body shop and branded stuff from Tosco a couple of years back and have had no need to buy certain things since and probs have enough shower gel and shampoo to see me well into the next decade.

Enjoy the book sorting, I dread the task myself as I have so many and will struggle to discard any. None are fiction and all have their potential to become useful or life saving in the event of a total loss of access to any other means of reference ie no internet or power etc.

Am currently de cluttering the biscuit box whilst enjoying a cuppa, broken ones have to be decluttered after all. Ooops just dropped the box:D nom nom nom

:) I'm back. Have hauled 5 books out of there. Some may be holding info which I have elsewhere. I shall check.

RadioHorse, I have some suncream from July 2013 and was thinking I could use this up as a handcream (I only put handcream on at bedtime). Can you (or anyone) think of any reason not to do this? I hate waste and it was a grudge purchase anyone, blinking Ambre S0laire, cost a few squid.

Ouch for your sunburn, btw. Am a rapidly greying redhead, so have to hide from the sun

I've done nothing.. I feel like pap.. my adenoids feel like elephant testicles and I can barely breathe.. if I try breathing through my nose I start snoring lol.. piggy is definitely the right user name for me!

Shower gel/shampoo lasts forever, the perfume may fade and it may separate but a vigorous shake makes it perfectly usable.

    suncream lasts maybe 2 years.

Toothpaste is the only thing that gets funky .. I don't stock that.
