Following on from Pigpen's lovely donation it made me realise that when we get rid of our 'clutter' it can make such a difference to someone else's life even when we are not aware where our clutter ends up, it also clears space in our lives - so with that motivational thought I'm tackling the room of doom (small spare bedroom aka dumping ground) immediately we get back off our hols next week - I PROMISE!!
We will hold you to that silvasavaMust use my stash up!0 -
Thought you might! That's why I posted - haha. I promise to give a run down of what goes & where - might even take before & after pictures.............;)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Due to DH's health and a DD getting married in November and another getting her own house in a fortnight and youngest being in last year at uni - have decide three of us rattling around in a bug house and garden is silly. We have decided to put the house on the market and downsize while we are still fairly fit and able to face it.
DDs and a fiance came down last weekend and moved furniture, cleared surfaces etc so we could get photos done on Monday and we are now online and in property pages of paper today.
I had planned to de clutter more wardrobes this week but DH is feeling poorly after chemo so will do this later.
Have decided it is stupid to keep clothes that do not fit and do not flatter, even if they were a bargain and go for the mantra "less is more". New place will be a third (at least ) the size of this one so the more we can declutter the better.
DH still has gardening clothes that are three sizes too big and look like Worzel Gummidges cast offs but will not stress him right now by trying to clear them out.
Wish we had not decided this was our "forever" house and spent so much but not beating ourselves up about it and moving forward without regrets. "stuff is just stuff " and everything else will fall into place."This site is addictive!"

Go PIGPEN! That sounds like an epic plan for the weekend!
I just put onto the e.b.o.y. a bookcase so hopefully that will go. Maybe a uni student will want it since we live near a uni town! And tomorrow, three bags of charity shop stuff will leave the house. If it kills me, it will. *strangles the air*0 -
Morning all,
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I am feeling pretty exhausted now and off to bed shortly. I have now managed to sort out our bedroom and the wardrobe still seems rather full although it is at least organised and I have 4 bin bags of clothes and shoes ready for the charity shops on Monday and a big bag for a mate. It's so much better being able to get things from the wardrobe without having to move stuff first.
OH is going through a bad patch so I've been up with him talking and trying to talk through stuff and calm him down in order that his frustrations don't send him into another pit of despair. I find it so much more difficult to deal with the clutter when he's not so good and my caring duties call, but hey ho. Make the most of your health while you can you never know what's around the corner.
I think Saturday I shall sort through the bathroom cupboards as that seems like a small, but achievable goal. Sunday I'll declutter some eggs from the fridge and make a cake or two so that I can freeze some.
GQ hope you had a good day at the lottie0 -
Up and at it (well, up and in my jammies, imbibing the first cuppa of the day) and will be on the allotment in 3 hours. There's such heavy dew, even on dry days, at this time of the year that very early starts are counter-productive.
The bonfire was a disappointment in many ways. Weather was co-operative (wind very light, and blowing in the correct direction i.e. across the common away from the lotties, and not off the lotties onto the estate, by which direction we don't burn out of courtesy to the neighbourhood). Sadly, onto the estate is the prevailing wind direction 90% of the time.
So, that was all to the good, however the stuff I'm burning is principly dried out couch grass and pernicious weeds which laugh at composting, plus smaller quantities of stuff like the broad beam haulms. I had a core of burnables stashed in the shed, and got a good fire going, but the heat of the fire was insufficient to sustain a roaring blaze, which meant that the grass etc caused a slow-burning fire over several hours.
It wasn't too smoky, because the material had been drying over several months in some cases, but it had absorbed dew etc and wasn't as dry as I would have liked. Result was that I have burned only a quarter of the total.
Have spread out a goodly quantity of the remaining stuff to try getting some more air to it, but will have to try to burn it today or pile it up and tarp it, as the weather is supposed to get wet here this afternoon and say wet.
I think I will also look at IKEA-bagging it and doing a dump run, although the logistics are difficult with only a pushbike and the perennial limitations of energy.
Hey-ho, that's life, best laid plans and all that jazz.:p
I did have some time whilst bonfire-tending and also digging to consider a few other things, and have decided not to do yet another mend on one garment, which is frankly worn-out. You mend one spot and the next time you wear it, another mending need manifests itself. Just need to accept that it's a goner. It's loitering in the mending pile, having been laundered, so will send it for ragging.
The bonfire-baked tattie worked, although I ended up eating it at home, and it still had a tasty, smoky tang to it.
siegemode, sounds like you have a lot on your plate which goes wider than clutter. All the best to you, my dear, and have a restful sleep.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

No go on the charity bags today. Mother doesn't want to take them into town and I can't drive yet. Argh! Oh well - have to think positive. Hopefully, we can add another couple of bags over the next week and really make it worth while by taking 4+ bags next weekend.
Emptied the kitchen bin and the recycling - those both tend to build up so got to them before they overflowed!Loaded dishwasher and am about to go tackle some bedlinen.
And the laundry mountain. That's no longer a mountain because I weeded through it all but it's growing again.
Still. Bookcase is scheduled to come up ebay today, and I'm waiting for three soap dispensers to sell or to fail to sell this afternoon. If they don't go, I'll put them in another charity bag and start that one off with a bang.
Tomorrow, brother's coming over with his car and we hope to get rid of the bed frame that's in the spare room that's been languishing in there for almost a year! Was only 99p on ebay and it's done first me and then my brother a good turn.
New furniture comes next week so this week's task is to get the spare room/office completely empty and cleaned so all the new stuff can go in.
See you guys later!0 -

children disapeared with ex for (literally probably) a couple of hours so been brave and opened the "spare" room door...
Ive moved out GIGANTIC piles of "clean and needs putting away washing" - the trouble of having the tumble drier in there i get lazy and just pile up the dry clothes next to the drier as i put the new wet stuff in then cant be bothered putting it all away in the proper rooms etcThis has all been dumped on my bed and i will HAVE to sort through it if i want to sleep tonight :rotfl: You can now get in the room though as moved few boxes so can be a project this week to tackle bits and pieces in there.
In my tidying this week for DDs friend visit i opened a cupboard we hardly use and found 5 winter coats of ex's ... so binbagged them up and he can take them with him later.. weve had a charity bag through the door for firefighters charity too so will be filling that up and getting rid of another bag of old clothes. Already sent one to BHF this week with lots of kids outgrown stuff. I WILL get there with this hoard!0
