Joanne - Well done you - pat on the back from DD and all of us, we all know how difficult it is to face our demons & DO something about it. You'll get there and you have your DD to give you encouragement. She's a little star & a credit to you too.
GQ - Wow - who'd have believed it! After all the time & effort you have spent being so helpful & supportive its finally paying off!
Only bit of kipple gone today is 6 x 108" lots of 3" pinch pleat heading tape that I took off my curtains when I remodelled them that's gone to the local hospice craft shop. Oh DH did empty the glass bottle box for me so that's another bit out of the way!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Being productive today is like pulling teeth but I found a book to donate to charity (almost three full bags for the charity shop run this weekend!) and am about to go and clean off a bookcase to put on e-b-o-y.
Let's see if I can do some shredding or sort out a work top as well today.0 -

I found a home for my old wedding dress.. its been sat in a binbag for 20 years ... there is a fb group collecting them to make in gowns for angel babies so it is being bundled off to them.. I was very blessed with all my beastlets so feel it is a good thing to do for someone else in their time of need... so sad to think of so many angels wearing them though
Those poor mummies and daddies and families... it might declutter my house but will declutter my head and my mothers house.

SingleSue sounds like you have done an amazing job, well done you and I hope you are feeling a lot more positive now. Reading how you were treated made me so angry and I understand how deflated that awful woman must have made you feel.
johanne I have the embarrassment thing when people visit. I find myself apologising for the mess even when its not so bad (to me anyways) It's such a shame that people are so quick to judge us these days. We rarely have visitors but when we do I panic and try and tidy and often just end up shifting and hiding things. Its lovely that your daughter appreciated your efforts.
I decided to have a little sort out of clothing today and I seem to have lost the bed and floor. I have a dilemma and am here to ask for advice and opinion.
I have gone though things and still seem to have a small mountain range of jeans, knitwear and tops not to mention knickers and socks:o
My weight fluctuates and at the moment I'm at the upper end with the intention and desire to head back towards a size 12/14 again. I buy quality and don't follow fashion as such so it's difficult to get rid of much of it, but I'm trying to be ruthless honest. Being on the tallside it's difficult to get things that fit and so when I do I hang on to them. I have about 3 bin bags ready for the chazzer so far and still have about 40/50 pairs of jeans, cargo trousers and crops in reserve:o. I haven't even tackled the knitwear and fleece mountain yet.
So my intention is to take it to the chazzer, but as I look at it I'm wondering if I should be selling some of it on eebay or doing a boot sale. Trouble is I can barely keep up with day to day admin etc and have never used ebay and hate the idea of payp@l. The boot sale is only possible if I can get a friend to do it and that means stuff will be taking up space until we can organise it. I don't drive and OH hates being with or around people. We could definitely do with the money , but also need the space as in 3 weeks we have a guest to stay and I need to clear the room of chaos. Getting rid to a chazzer seems best but are bootsales worth it for selling clothes and how much would things fetch ? Any ideas welcomed, thanks:)0 -
siege.. chazzer it... your space is more valuable and the money might be nice but think of the extra air in the house... be ruthless, go for it.. set it free, it has a new home out there with someone who needs it. I look as it as helping those charities, I can't afford a donation of money but I can afford a donation of stuff!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Evening all.
seigemode, I'd agree with pigpen - to the chazzers. There are an awful lot of clothes offered at bootfairs, most of them don't sell at all, and if they do it's pence. Plus they're a PITA to handle and display. Been around the bootfairs for 20+ years it's always been the same.
I'd bite the bullet and say to yourself I am saving the time taken by the sale, the pitch fee, the petrol, the effort, the arguments, the early starts and being a big-hearted and generous woman by letting these items free to serve others.
Sometimes, trying to sell stuff is a lot more aggravation than it's worth, IYKWIM. Peace in the home and space to welcome your visitor are important gains, I reckon.
I'm getting twitchy at the happy prospect of going to my allotment tomorrow and, subject to dryness and either little or no wind/ wind blowing away from the houses and across the common, I shall be having my annual burn up.
Items for the burn have been carefully stored. I have the broken wooden spoon and oil-soaked bristle-and-wood pastry brush from my kitchen (and another one donated from Mum's kitchen). I have the balls of paper shreddings, the lolly sticks and other small random pieces of untreated wood. I have the rotted row markers and various other bits and bobs. These will join some newspaper to form the heart of a rip-roaring bonfire to reduce the nasty dried up couch grass, brambles and horsetail and docks into usedul potash. Which I shall allow to cool for a few days, before gathering up and using to top-dress the 2015 spud crop.
Once the big burn has happened, the allotment will be much tidier and the area where the material have been drying out for months will be workable. Which is just as well as the lottie officer will be doing inspections in October.A big bonfire, carefully managed, with the edges raked towards the middle so that it all burns up, is a delightfully visual way of reducing certain kinds of clutter. I may well take a foil-wrapped tattie up there to park in the embers and bake, mustn't waste that heat.
So, wish me dry and calm weather for tomorrow, as one of the little highlights of the gardening year has come around again - yippee.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I am here, I am reading.
I did tidy the conservatory but it is a mess again. Partly me and partly Mum. working six days a week is tough.
However this weekend I am not going out and have a plan.
Plan A = all out gutting of bedroom
Plan B = light tidying of all rooms.
I am taking my clothes to the weigh in place near me, the charity shops round here have stopped taking clothes.
am so tired and still have work to do but will be back tomorrow XXNevertheless she persisted.0 -

My initial thoughts exactly until I started to doubt myself, thank you.Evening all.

Yes I know exactly what you mean and it was only other peoples success with eebay that made me question myself. Chazzers shops have helped me through many a crisis and it feels right to donate and quite a few things have still got the original price tags on:o. Being able to give and imagine someone elses joy at snagging a bargain is a feeling worth more than the money gained from trying to sell stuff myself and expend energy that would be better directed towards other things or people.
I shall be thinking of your bonfire and tattie with envy and hope for good weather. Since I think you are in my part of the country I recon you'll be in for a good day looks like the rain won't arrive till Saturday.
Off back to the bedroom of chaos for more sorting in order to relocate the bed. So far today I have added another bin bag of clothes to donate and one almost full for the dump. Getting there slowly.0
