Well, I had some success today. :) Built a bookcase and put it in the hall, reloaded the dishwasher, emptied the recycling, and did some shredding. And swept and washed the hall floor before we put the new bookcase in.

I call that a cherry on top of a not so great cake.:p

I posted 11 items I have sold.. 1 still to pay and 2 not finished yet. I sorted 6 more listings and have just done pics for another 2. I will have some room in this house if it kills me dead!

  • GQ, that works if you don't buy them anyway. How else did I amass a great big pile of shoes that didn't fit me properly? Sure I can squeeze into them, but I can't walk for more than a couple of minutes...

Trouble at t'mill - washing machine still kaput. Which means I still have a car full of posh vintage clothing and a house full of dirty washing; I'm doing as much as I can by hand but that's not a lot as my foot is still very sore! They came to mend it yesterday & changed the pump; it did drain whilst he was here, but as soon as he'd gone I popped a load of manky tea towels in, and it promptly refused to drain again. So I rang the company again, but they said they wouldn't send the engineer out again until I'd checked that the drain-hose was clear, as that wouldn't be covered by my insurance.

Cue much pushing, pulling, wriggling into tight corners & swearing - in the end we established that you can pour water into the drain hose & it gurgles straight through, no problem. So the problem is inside the machine after all. But they can't come again until next Tuesday - aaaargh! However they have put us at the top of the list in the unlikely event that they get a cancellation between now & then, as it's been over a week already. It just doesn't help with clearing the mess...

  • Pigpen - the weather improved today and so did my mood. Think it's definitely true what you said! :D

GQ - breaking down all my tasks into smaller bits really did help - I was able to do a lot today ;) Definitely feel better now.

Had a much better day today, even if it was a bit topsy turvy. Took a parcel to the post office so that's gone, and updated e.b.o.y. as well to let the buyer know. Checked current selling items and now I feel proper pleased as both bookcases are selling (£5.00 bid on one and £7.20 on the other!) and we have a watcher on the big wooden box. :D

Finished the box of shredding which made a bag to go in the rubbish so that's a big thing got rid of. Might need to replace the shredder though. It sounds a bit rough! :(

But, best of all, I got the dish for the Halogen oven out as well to be washed. Found all the bits for it too, so it can go on e.b.o.y tomorrow and I'll find one other thing too. :A

Did have a bit of a frustration today though as we started to built the other bookcase for the hall, and found that we're missing a dowel rod so we can't built the darn thing. Phoned IKEA and they said ten working days!

:) Glad the tip works for you, too. Sometimes a body just can't motivate herself to get moving, but once you do, things can get better quickly.

Very annoying re the dowel. It's pretty cheap stuff to buy from hardware stores, would it be worth your while to buy some rather than wait for IKEA to get their arris in gear? If you have an example of what it should be, how's about taking that to a hardware store/ timber merchant and getting some the same? HTH.

Have been having a lazy week off, really needed to rest and the weather has been helping me feel OK about being off the allotment. I did spin by there on the pushbike yesterday afternoon to round up two big bagfuls of grass to take to the tip. Wringing wet up there, soil like pudding, couldn't possibly garden. ;)

Other than that, have just been reading murder mysteries, drinking tea and doing the odd bit of housework in a desultory manner. Have started a pile of library books to go back when I'm headed in that direction, have read two in two days, but then, am a very fast reader and I wanted to see whodunnit - and I'd guessed the wrong person.

Keep on with the good work, lovely peeps. GQ xx

    Where is everyone?

I was feeling overwhelmed by everything and doing nowt - so I followed GQ's excellent advice and told myself 'I'm just going to put those three paperbacks into a bag for CS' - which I did after slinging two brown paper bags with dodgy bottoms; I then added two other books to the bag; loaded the WM, put the rubbish out, washed a bowl of pots and put some glass jam jars in to soak/de-label ready for recycling.
    Then sat down.
It was difficult to get going again so I told myself 'I'm just going to dry three items that's all' - and I've dried and put away ALL the washed pots, reloaded the WM, hung the first load on radiators, and washed the glass jars that were soaking, put the labels in the bin, and the jars are now draining
    Why is starting soooooo hard?
