I'm on operation "persuading OH he wants a cat" so far I've been dropping "we're going to get a cat" into conversations, commenting on cats, saying how cute/affectionate/loving they can be, furry hot water bottles etc. DD had a cat birthday card last week and left it on the mantleshelf and OH actually said "if we got a cat like that, it wouldn't be too bad" - think I'm getting there!
Just need to get a new job first, as that was one condition that I set myself. Had an interview in a school last week, was between me and one other person but as they had had recent school experience in that role, and could hit the ground running, (their phrase) they gave it to her instead.
When I was on 'Operation get cat', I kept showing OH pictures of cats online at the local animal charity, didn't take much of 'these poor kitties need a good home' to persuade him. Now he loves our little fluffy one almost as much as I do. Who can resist a needy animal?
Sorry to hear about the interview, from what I know getting a job in schools is tough if you don't already 'have your foot in the door', as it were. Keep trying, you'll get there
Not much decluttering going on here, just enjoying having no massive dining table taking up the whole room, which hasn't even become a dumping ground in its' absense! Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel! :j"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0 -

Glad the table went no probs in the end
I keep wandering around picking up stuff and thinking "we don't need this" and binning it or putting it in the CS bag!0 -
Well I had a total tidy of the living/dining room last week after DS's friend had decamped here for several days leaving a trail of destruction in his wake (empty pop bottles, sweet wrappers, used batteries!!!!.....) I started clearing the debris and decided everything had to find a home or go, so went round the whole room. Have to say that it still look shabby
but it's some progress and my radiator cover (Hot spot extraordinaire usually) has remained fairly clear. I even cleared the computer table which just seems to magically attract clutter and managed to get to the printer and put in a new ink cartridge.
And yesterday I took out some nice glasses that I bought years ago and put them in the cupboard. I was going to put them in the carboot pile, but decided I should keep the nice things and let go of the crappy stuff ( I tend to keep the crappy stuff cos I think no-one will want it and I'll have to throw it away and that bothers me. I am realising that I have to accept that sometimes I must throw things away otherwise I'll just end up surrounded by crap and nothing nice:o))

I'm trying to think along the lines of: whilst I don't like contributing to landfill, essentially if I don't get the crappy stuff out of my house I am treating my living space like a landfill site. I would rather recycle/rehome stuff, but sometimes the best I can do is get it in rubbish bags and give it to the bin men, and that's still a result.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Thank goodness for Ch4+1, thoroughly enjoyed The Hoarder Next Door, which has just finished.
I could really identify with Jo, the teacher; when you have useful resources it's really hard to accept that they are no longer needed. Especially when creating them took many hours.
So guess who is going through her resource stash again ASAP?
It's nowhere near as bad as Jo's, but there is stuff there that can go. I had and have marvellous resources for adults with learning disabilities, but let's face it, that strand of teaching has been completely destroyed by Gov't cuts and will never recover, I will almost certainly never teach in that sector again. Certainly not in the next 3 years. By which time the resources will be up to 10 years old.
So no point in hanging on to them.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Sorry, I'm going to be MIA for a while, as some of you already know.
:-)
Our dog managed to get onto the railway line at lunchtime, had an argument with a freight train and lost:( . After some tests, she has suffered brain stem injury, and even after surgery, she is unlikely to recover consciousness.
My darling, darling, Chloe, you know that you are beloved, run free and out of pain at Rainbow Bridge. Your dad and I love you so, so much. I know that we couldn't be there on your final journey, but we thought that after being in pain for seven hours, you needed to be pain free, above us being with you.
We love you Chloe, you should have had so much longer with us. We love you baby boo, I should have done more to keep you safe.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

How awful. I am so sorry to read this. Please don't feel guilty about what happened; my childhood pet was a Grade 1 escape artist who also died much too young after he got out despite our best efforts. It happens.
It's terrible that it happened to you too. Hugs.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourselves. You found the courage to let her go, you'll need a lot of courage to survive her loss. ((((Hugs))))S.P.C. 9 2016 No. 062 Banked £337.50

If it should be…
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can’t be won
You will be sad I understand
Don’t let your grief then stay your hand
For this day more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stands the test
We’ve had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears
Would you want me to suffer? So
When the time comes please let me go
Take me where my needs they’ll tend
Only stay with me to the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see
I know in time that you will see
It is a kindness that you do to me
Although my tail it’s last has waved
From pain and suffering I have been saved
Do not grieve it should be you
Who must decide this thing to do
We’ve been so close we two these years
Don’t let your heart hold any tearsS.P.C. 9 2016 No. 062 Banked £337.50
