  • That reminds me Catriona, I got a new laptop 2 weeks ago and took the decision to not transfer any files or emails or pictures or anything.
I wanted a clean start to be able to keep a regular tab of what I do and don't keep on my laptop, rather than be overwhelmed by the same old same old.
My rule is, if I remember anything I'm missing, I can warm up the old laptop and copy it to stickie then on to the new one.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

As long as the old laptop continues to work ;) I had an experience a few years ago when I lost a huge amount of my writing as my laptop died and it couldn't be recovered. I was so upset and still am a little bit. I keep as much as possible on an external hard drive these days, but I get a bit paranoid about that dying too so have a lot of it replicated on CDs/USB sticks! Technology is not good for a paranoid hoarder! :D:o

Sorted out the pile of things semi-blocking the door to our bedroom. Laundry basket, hoover and several plastic boxes and carrier bags. Now there's 3 bags for the charity shop and <gasp> the door actually closes! Well it does if you push it hard - it catches on the carpet and then doesnt fit the frame! Another job for the DIY list!

Actually I only tackled it as we've got someone coming on Thursday to fit virgin tv and broadband ....and we've decided to have the 2nd tv connected in our room. Hence I'll be frantically trying to clear the piles of boxes etc so the man can get in! Wish me luck

I need to move a few things in the lounge too - but should have time to do that Thursday morning.

  • Hello

I posted ages and ages ago then went into hibernation. Sometimes it feels like the commitment to a thread is too much and after a couple of posts I start feeling I have nothing to say. My bedroom is still in the same state, I can see the floor around the bed but that's it. There's stuff all around the walls and every surface is covered with more stuff. Went away for the weekend and it was nice having clear space, so I need to clear at least one area by the end of this week.

  • Well done on the progress everyone has been making.

So sorry to hear of losses, hopefully having been working on clearing things it allows a little more space and less to worry about when dealing with grief.

Last night I had a bit of a LBM that I thought would resonate here.

When packing a swim bag for this morning I looked properly at the towel I use for swimming and realised it was completely threadbare. It got donated to DH for muddy bike purposes.
I have had that towel for 20 years.
Instead I used one which I must have bought nearly 10 years ago to replace it - because I knew then it was past its best.

Why on earth have I continued to use it, even after buying a suitable alternative? Does anyone else have moments when they realise just how utterly ridiculous they are?!:rotfl:

Littlegreenparrot re the towel....I empathise completely. 6 months ago a carpet sweeper I bought from Lakeland started to become a daily annoyance as the rubber bumper at the front kept falling off, as this is also a seal it stopped it being efficient. I spoke to Lakeland, who were as excellent as ever and replaced it immediately. I am still grappling with the broken one! What is WRONG with me ? :o:mad::eek:

Well.....I've ruined our bedroom and the kids are home very soon!

On the upside - two big bags of "stuff" have gone in the bin and I've found DS jumper that he keeps asking me "where is it?". On the downside - the bed is covered in things still to be sorted/relocated/got rid of.

Hopefully the kids will let me carry on working for a bit, after I've sorted tea - as DP gets home about 6pm. Hopefully I'll have it more or less sorted by then (fingers crossed)

Well I managed it (found the bed that is). Another big bag of stuff in the bin and 5 bags ready to go to the charity shop. Sounds a lot, but I've realised there's still a load more to be sorted properly .

Have to admit I cheated a bit - hid some things in drawers and boxes to tackle later :o

Been inspired from recent posts. Bought new toothbrushes and chucked out the old ones.

Been through my purse and shredded out of date coupons. Normally, I'd've been cross that DH and I failed to look for them before he went shopping, and I would have kept them awhile to rediscover my crossness. Now I think, can't use 'em, get rid and move on. (I've always hated the phrase 'move on' because it seems so unacknowledging of emotion).
