Horrible neighbours on both sides of us are having parties tonight (lads in both houses play for football teams and apparently it was their last day of the season today) so I've given up trying to study and am relieving the stress by decluttering the bedroom while listening to music through my headphones as loud as I can without not being able to hear the little one if she wakes. This is what I call making the most of a bad situation..."Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0

not in south wales it isn't
I was going to get on with garden jobs this weekend, but t'was tipping it down, so we are confined to barracks, I am trying to finish off various "projects" in order to declutter, (refurbing a chair, fitting the panelling in the kitchen, finishing stripping the wallpaper in the hall).
I don't mind doing these jobs, but I'm like a butterfly flitting from one to another, so the associated mess and tools stay out and around for all of them. I really need to pick one and see it through to completion before starting the next (these are not the only ones on the go, but these are the three I've prioritised to finish).
I can see that this is one of the major issues I have, I'll have so many projects on the go and collecting things to do all of them whilst not actually finishing any of them. think for the rest of the day I'll try and pick one and get that done.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
No, I was a little too enthusiastic here. Did get some washing on the line and it is being blown about but will probably need to finish it off for 10 mins in the drier.
Another load is on the airer in the kitchen with the back door open for now. It's grey as far as the eye can see.
In a moment of weakness I bought an ostrich feather duster from amazon.
DS used the vac on the ceilings to get rid of the cobwebs. I didn't think there was much (one or two long strands in the corners) but it all looks a lot better.
DS is certaily more helpful since we've been flyladying a bit (which in my case means reading the emails rather than actually cleaning).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Thank you for all your kind words and sharing of stories. I'm so sorry Craigy about your awful experience, what was the first vet thinking?! So glad it had a happy ending. My Bess was such a lovely, lovely dog, and she is very much missed. She had two seizures however, and that seemed to accelerate her decline although she still enjoyed her food.
I have continued with the sorting at my place, buying and selling on FB as I have found some lovely pieces of furniture (one free) which I love rather than actually putting up with. It's all still a work in progress and the "hoardish" tendancies still are very much there but I'm also establishing what I like rather than what will do for now.
My very heavy mahogany bed collapsed one night and I thought it was a right off, but with some brute strength, several bruises later and a lot of swearing, I managed to put it back together again, I was extremely chuffed! :T0 -

[wafts through, waves whilst buried under a pile of work and wafts back out again].
Sorry, things are a bit manic here, been preparing for a couple of projects that might lead to jobs in the future. Got loads more to do in the next few weeks too - it's a heck of a lot easier when I don't have to worry about the house, but it's still a bit overwhelming when I'm going from 'arrgggghhhh I'm bored' to 'arrrrrrrrgggggghhhhh! So much to do!!!!!!!' in the course of a week. And when I've been on here, it's been on my phone, which doesn't like switching boards (and microwriting on threads means I can't find stuff).
Hope all is going well!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

So glad for you, can totally understand the decision you had made, but such a relief for you all! xx
I'm on operation "persuading OH he wants a cat" so far I've been dropping "we're going to get a cat" into conversations, commenting on cats, saying how cute/affectionate/loving they can be, furry hot water bottles etc. DD had a cat birthday card last week and left it on the mantleshelf and OH actually said "if we got a cat like that, it wouldn't be too bad" - think I'm getting there!
Just need to get a new job first, as that was one condition that I set myself. Had an interview in a school last week, was between me and one other person but as they had had recent school experience in that role, and could hit the ground running, (their phrase) they gave it to her instead.0
