    Hi,

just wanted to let those who know me, that my darling Bess had to be put to sleep yesterday. Very, very sad.

    Byatt xxx

I am so very sorry for your loss Byatt, please be kind to yourself in the next few days.

My first springer was also called Bess, (or Bessie, or Bessie-May), she was a Welshie and a real character. Even after 20 years I still miss her, and think of her, and get teary thinking of her. She died too young, from liver failure, because we didn't realise that she drank out of the toilet, and my sister used to put bleach blocks in the cistern :( . Toilet lids are kept down now, and Chloe has water bowls upstairs and downstairs.

Aw, poor Bess, MrsAtobe. The weird thing is that DD's Beth (English springer) also has a thing about the toilet. She has an obsession with empty toilet rolls -she eats the cardboard. I don't think she drinks from the bowl but one never knows. I will mention it to DD.

Off loaded a pairof sandals to a friend today.
I haven't worn them in 4 years but they have a lots life left in them and were very expensive and I struggled to let them go for a long time (over 6 months). Sometimes it is good to be ruthless and other timesI'm ok taking time to let go.
By the time I handed them over I was very happy to see them off my shoe shelf. Room for a new pair when it gets warmer, that I will love and wear a lot:D.

White wing - you're a genius with that room divider idea - I've been wanting to have an absent wall rebuilt in our house so our downstairs second reception room is no longer open plan.
But there's pros and cons and it would be a big expense.

I'm now seriously thinking about an Ik*a self room divider that would still allow the light through that we would miss in the gap between ceiling and top of 6ft divider, create good storage for that room and hide the scruffiness of it to everyone else as I would cover the back of it with material rather than it be open shelves both sides (the room would be traditionally 'the dining room', but we use it as a laundry drying room and woodwork workshop and DH's dumping ground for all his work kit. It's been embarrassing me for ages but this could solve the problem.:T

Byatt, I'm really sorry about Bess.

Sorry to hear about Bess, we have a springer who is snoring on the sofa next to me!

Can I vent please? We redid Dad's bathroom a year ago, hubby replaced all the fittings, put a walk in shower in and we got someone in to tile as hubby isn't very good at tiling. We left Dad some painting to do as he's hugely independent and likes to do DIY despite his mobility issue so we try to leave him jobs that aren't too bad for him in the hope it will stop him doing the bleeding stupid things he does otherwise. (he doesn't have to do anything, hubby will do it but Dad can't let go).

Dad is now in there chipping away the new door frame because he wanted to lift the door of its rising butt hinges and not undo the screws. There isn't enough clearance to do this because of the boxed in pipe work above it but he wouldn't have it so he's !!!!!!ed up the door frame and now realised that he can't lift the door off anyway. PLUS he's put his bloody tools on the toilet lid and scratched it. He's now polyfillaring the door frame and apparently I'll never know that he touched it!

    I despair, I just dispair......

Oh dear. I have just seen an advert for a Karcher Window Vac and now I want one of those. Anybody here rich enough to buy one and test it out for us, lol.

My sister's got one, loves it, but I couldn't get on with it, I'd rather have a steamer and a supply of microfibre clothes.

On the subject of steamers, I failed miserably to pick up one of the steam mops on special in Aldi on Thursday (despite going to three stores, you can't say I didn't try :) ), I am now the proud-ish owner of a Morphy Richards 9:in 1 steamer. All I can say is, OMG, I didn't realise the Amitico in the hall was THAT dirty :). I'll supply other reviews as I try the other functions.

In other news, we've just bought a 46`` LED Samsung TV, and we are both blown away by the HD picture quality. We can see almost every blade of grass in Augusta :)

Hi MrsAtobe, our Aldi had sold out at 8.15 on Thurs, so I wouldn't feel too bad. I haven't tried the Shark steam mop I bought instead yet. I meant to today, but combined doing some work with watching the racing, as per most Saturdays.
Tomorrow I want a combined garden clock/thermometer from Aldi, so I will be setting off early for that one too, though I can't imagine that going quickly.
