Hoarding - Springing Ahead

Thanks to continuing decluttering habits, we are mostly having the space and time to take a packed lunch to work.
Going to make some Get Well Soon cakes for my brother, who is not good at the moment.
Got the dishwasher on before I left home this morning and bed made but that was about it. Still, that is a big improvement over pre-dehoarding days.
DH has agreed to start painting this weekend so I am really looking forward to that (although he also has to work so it won't be an all-out effort).
I'm looking forward to hearing how everyone's bank holiday has gone as it motivates me a lot.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Morning Everyone!
Another day and I am off to attack paperwork...I have to do a SOA ,run it through Step change and forward that to my Creditors in the hope that they will continue to accept my reduced payments. So, first I have to gather all the paperwork together (actually I know it is all in boxes under my bed, along with unopened post ,junk mail, shopping reciepts odd buts of paper, freebie magazines , Used tissues(yuck),charity bags ,other stuff) so my first job is to go through all that and declutter...why do I save all this carp and not deal with it immediately? Right I am away to do that now... what helped me get on with it yesterday was to keep telling myself repeatedly '' I am letting go of things that are preventing me moving forward in my life!'' . Right, I am off... and good luck to you all in attacking your stash today whether its in the house/garden or somewhere else!0 -
I have plans to empty the kitchen cupboard, clean it, and sort things out as I have to fit a new kitchen processor in, other things HAVE to go. Older daughter might want to take some when she moves soon as she is a good cook and baker. I find it so hard to let things go out of the fear I will have to buy the same thing again should I ever need it....First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

I've got t'kettle on to make a flask of tea, packing up then going to the lottie for a few hours. Whilst that is happening I'm doing all the washing up. One bowlful done, dried and put away, second having a brief soak before tackling it.
Idea is to come back to a clean kitch not a messy one - sorted.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Good luck Happygreen making SPACE in you kitchen cupboard, let us know how you get on and if you find any ways of letting go of 'gotta keep it incase I might one day need it' STUFF.0

Happygreen - if you are worried about perhaps needing something in the future that you only might use occasionally how about borrowing it?? My DiL & DS1 both cook & bake so we borrow where necessary & I also have a good neighbour who will do the same with me?
Have a good day at the lottie GQ - just checked my little greenhouse & my watering system & timer that I set up all by myself WORK!!! (mental pat on back) Have stripped bed & just about to hang out in the sunshine (washing not me!) Just a thought - I can never remember when I strip the bed if I have turned the mattress top to bottom or side to side so I have numbered each end 1-4 so I know if its turn round or turn over time Hmm dont think I've explained that very well..............:(Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Happiness, it will be a bit of a slog getting all your info down for Step Change but believe me when its done your life will change dramatically. I did it 3 years ago and no longer dread the phone or the post (apart from the DWP) We know exactly what we have to spend and the people there are wonderful. non judgemental and very helpful. Went through a double wardrobe space (fitted wardrobes) with DD yesterday who encouraged me to throw out stuff that did not suit me or did not fit. Also put contents of ottoman (spare duvet, sheets and pillows) into spare bedroom space under bed.
This gave me space to put gift wrap, nice handbags etc in ottoman box and cleared wardrobe floor so shoes could go in there instead of cluttering up the floor.
I even emptied the chair which held some clean washing and got it all hung up and cleared small bookcase in bedroom.
Now have four bags to go to charity shop and bedroom looks so much bigger and better.:j
Washing mountain will get sorted out tonight and airing cupboard tidied while I feel motivated."This site is addictive!"

Ohhh,so lovely to see lots of new faces:welcome aboard, everyone. It really is very addictive.
This afternoon I FINALLY got around to sorting out my plastics cupboard.I seem to need to do this every few months (last done in September,I think).Plastics cupboard has plastic boxes in it,each box is supposed to hold different thing:
-plastic containers with matching lids, suitable for school lunches, fridge storage, etc
-drink bottles and cups
-shapes for cooking,cutting cookies,etc
-not-used-every-day utensils:gravy boat,blender,blitzer,a couple of flasks,
Well, after a couple of months, everything starts to blend in with each other.Plastics especially get into all sorts of chaos. And I also have far too many plastic containers still sealed in their original packaging,so I obviously don't need those
So,after a couple of hours (not rushed, and with kids running around),it was all in order again:cupboard emptied and wiped down, boxes re-defined,plastic containers married up with lids or set aside (to be given 24 hours to find a partner,or be disposed of),baby cups rid of (have always kept a few for visitors, but not needed for a while now).
I pulled down the wicker baskets to see what was in those:vases, plastic cutters(seasonal,so I had obviously deliberately put them out of the way),blender (not used for years!),and even more still in original packaging, plastic containers .Some were so old they had been bought in Woolworths. How long has Woolies been closed???
I wasn't sure what to do with all these plastic containers. The original plan was to transfer them from newly-sorted cupboard to wicker baskets (so I did this this-out of mind,etc.).Later in the afternoon I realised what I should do.On Tuesday I am going to take all the unopened/never used containers to the kids school.Teachers are always using containers for storing "stuff":counters, pencils, papers, jizsaws, games, beads, craft stuff.....Absolutely inspired idea (even if I do say so myself)

afternono all,
well i think ive had a productive couple of days. and was feeling pretty good till tonight.
cut a long sh*tty story short. my mother and fathers side of the family dont get on, to the point i was constantly put in the middle, where i moved to where i live now,(not the only reason) and took me another 8 years to not block, but at least limit, especially what certain people can see on my fb. as you all know over the past couple of weeks, ive been shifting shunting and selling evrythign to get clutter out of my spare room. well something cought my husbands eye on one of the fb selling pages, and i sill say it is expensive, but one hell of a good deal. so i took all the money i got from selling everything, paid off a few things that i needed to from where hubby was off work and had almost enough left over to get him the thing he wanted off fb. its his birthday present even tho its 2 months early. but thats how ive justified getting it, and it is going to replace the one he allready got as its a bigger and better one. so we not adding just replacing, eventually.
tonight i get a phone call off my nan, about how pally my husband is with my mums husband where they were talking about his birthday present, no its just that he was speaking to my hubby about the new for us fish tank, and that he is lucky to have had it etc etc.
and that they cant understand how ive been able to afford to buy it cos they are expensive.
so i said to my nan yeah they when bought new, this isnt new, its second hand, and if my step sister must know, as she is one of the ones (main one) that is limited to what she can see on my fb,ive sold all my furniture from the spare bedroom, and some clothes, shoes i never wear, bags ive never used etc. to be able to pay off what i needed to then dip into my oil money slightly to get enough for it.
i said to my hubby, its a bit ironic really, i bought him the ft, and with some people that will do anything to stir things up a bit and basically make me feel like carp, my lifes like living in a damn fish bowl.
i dont very often blow up at family, but i felt i almost did tonight with my nan, and even tho she rang me, its only from what she has been told, as usual. last time i blew up at my dad for things, i got a few things off my chest, maybe if it carries on it wont be as long till the next blow out, but i remember things that my dad had said when growing up, and he tried to dent it cos he doesnt remember saying them. but both of the worst comments i can ever remember him saying to me, werent very good for my self esteem, one of them being where he accused me of causing his car crash when i wasnt anywhere near him when it happend, i was actually at the local library, but never the less i got told it was my fault. the other i try and forget, but sometimes when i look at how things are in my life, not so much since i met my husband, but i do still occasionally wonder, if i hadnt have met my husband could i have ended up like that, or is that all i am worth. and worse still if i knew how to get involved in it, i think at some time i may have even turned to it as i thought it was all i was any good for any way.
any way we done the table top sale this morning, and considering it was a local one, and there was a second one going on at the same time, round the corner, we didnt do too bad, enough to go towards a pot of paint any way, witch we got on our way home. but as i didnt get started on it this afternoon like i planned as i was feeling so drained when i got in i fell asleep, i will start on it tomorrow, but then if i dont sleep tonight i theres nothing saying i wont make a start on it tonight, as it does slightly annoy hubby, but i usually ebd up getting more done throught he night than i do through the day, i could be awake all day, with no energy, then come a certain time in the night im wide awake and ready to get going. have always been the same and i have no idea why.
as ive not eaten anything but a small sausage roll and a packet of crisps all day i think i am going to see what i can do myself to eat as i think i am starting to feel a little hungry.0
