This morning I thinned out the stuff sitting on the 2 kid's chest of drawers that are in my bedroom.Bits of toys/parts of games that have wandered from their boxes ,bits of notes to myself,a few business cards looking very intidy:all put away, thinned out, stored or decluttered.

Tonight I dragged out my "permanent" filing box,(previously described,it sits under the 2 square otterman boxes my kids keep their shoes in).I was "looking for" some papers for our family car.I use inverted commas because I knew I didn't have them-partner has them somewhere amongst all his [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE] very precious belongings. But I thought I better look like I was doing something :rotfl:.

Anyway, while I was "looking very hard for the car papers that I know I do not have cos I didn't pay for,nor do the registration of, the car",I used the opportunity to file afew papers that I have found over the last few weeks of decluttering. This has emptied a considerable amount of paper from the two to-be-sorted boxes I am gradually thinning out.Just taking things out of envelopes and filing them means a tree-load of paper (the envelopes) has left my house for recycling this evening.

So tomorrow's plans have changed. Was meant to drag a whole lot of stuff out of the loft, and a few things sitting in a corner of our room, and take them to charity tomorrow. But since I now won't have a car (needs repairs since ever-helpful FIL stabbed a 3-inch hole through the engine with a jack while trying to lift the car up ),will be doing all home-based work tomorrow.Might get to charity shop on Saturday.

    Aims for tomorrow:
-continue to sort through the 2 boxes of "stuff" .Would be great to be able to empty them completely
-sort plastics cupboard (nasty chaos in there!)
-have a look in wicker baskets ontop of kitchen cupboards.

Happy decluttering, all. We are slowly getting there x

:) Gosh, this is so true. When I filletted the parental post mountains, removing stuff from the envelopes, and removing enclosures like leaflets for additional services and return envelopes for things they had no intention of returning, reduced the volume by 75% and made everything much less scary. I would commend this tactic to anyone with a papery mountain to climb.

I'm currently between two utitilty supplies so have paperwork for both active atm (but separated). I will be sorting out the old account soon and then that paperwork can go.

Yesterday being month's end, I totalled my food receipts and shredded them. I keep an A5 hardcover notebook for my grocery spends, sling grocery reciepts in there, keep a tally of non-receipted items like the greengrocer, and total it at month's end. I like to know what my cost-of-living is. Actually, because I do lots of little shops, I can get a fair few receipts, so I totalled partway through the month which made everything a bit easier.

Have shredded those receipts, plus the many notes-to-myself floating around the flat. Will clean out my wallet of ATM receipts when the bank statement comes in circa 9 th May; I like to reconcile them with the statement.

;) Memo to self; do empty that shredder this weekend.

Working today, running a couple of errands afterwards for an elderly neighbour and a couple for myself. Will have to sort that curtain project over the weekend if possible as they're taking up a lot of room on the sofa and making the place look a mess.

Keep on with it, my lovelies, we have nothing to lose but our (insert clutter type of choice here). GQ xx

Oooh GQ - you sound like Xena's Mum ;)
DH used to shoot quite a few years ago & had a lovely border bow from Mellerstain - its on my bucket list to visit there one day

Just hunted for the destructions for the heating & hot water programmer - can I find them? Need to sort out all my files 'cos there's instructions for items that are long gone.

    morning all,
im feeling at a standstil, feel like i should be doing something but i keep going in the bedroom to sort stuff out then remember i cant really do much more till the wardrobes are picked up tonight.
but maybe its also got something to do with no energy today. not a very good nights sleep, and just as it felt like i managed to drop off properly this morning, i get a phone call from hubby sayings hes sold the barbecue and they will be round to pick it up soon, (still not picked it up yet) so i am also keeping an eye out the window for someone who looks lost. we have a very weird set up, theres a big green patch in fron of the flat with a useless drive way half way up the one side and a walkway up the other side and our flats look like houses, so people see the 2 numbers before our number and keep walking round the little square as the numbers suddenly jump up about 3 numbers and then when they not been here before they get rather confused. our front door looks like it should be the downstairs flats backdoor, if it was a house. if thats makes sense.
well as soon as the barbecue is picked up, even tho its in the shed, thats still less clutter. to sort if ever we get round to do it.
    very daunting job that one.
tool box we cant get to, large old office filing cabinet used to store small gardent ools and plant food etc in, a bike my husband wanted for a dont know how long, used half a dozen times and not seen light of day again, we are actually still paying for it through the cycle to work scheme they had going. it might get used later in the month as i will need the car for a hospital appointment, but all depends weather he comes with me as i dont wanna travel the 60 odd miles on my own, confidence has gotten slightly better in the car over the last week, but thats barely any traffic and no motorways. and wanted him to come with me in case i get a bit of a anxiety attack so he can take over driving. if he doesnt come with me he will probably use the bike then, if not will probably catch the bus like he did last time cos it was too cold to ride the bike, after i said before he got the bike, no saying its too wet or too cold to ride it, we live in wales, thats the main weather lol.

i was also wondering if any one else has the same problem, i asked hubby to take something down to the shed for me next time he went out with the dogs, it was to go with the other bits that are down there to go to the tip hopefully over the weekend but i cant see it happening. as its his weekend off and apart form table top sale hes not going to want to do anything, im not sure where the tip is, apparently i would even be going in the wrong direction if i tried going as ive never been there before otherwise i would take it, he said you cant miss it its well sign posted and its on a straight road. so i asked him fine witch way do i go when i get to the end of town, he asked what i meant, so i said well as far as i know thats the way i go. so i would definately get lost if i tried to go, and i cant follow sat nav on phone as i dont seem to have volume and would have to keep looking at the screen for which way to go, witch probbaly wouldnt be safe.
starts to actually get annoying when i ask him to do something and i end up doing it more than 6 months later myself cos hes not got round to it yet :/

i think just to give myself something to do, im going to go prepare something for tea, need to more or less have it ready for when hubby gets in from work just after 4 cos he back in on a night shift tonight. so its easier to prepare or start cooking now, if i decide on a roast dinner as he only gets a couple of hours, and if i cook at my usual snail pace, he would either end up having to take it with him, or not have it at all.

Sorting out clothes for our hols - two pairs of 'cut off's' binned - 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of cut off's and 4 tops to the CS - Yay!!
Also - spoke to DH about the stash of 'electronic' gear that sits in the cupboard till its obsolete & then binned. He's agreed to let them go :eek:A few things are salvageable so gonna put on Preloved or similar - otherwise they'll go on freecycle

After walking kids to school this morning, back home I spent 4 hours sorting out my boxes.I actually managed to empty the box that has been sitting in the front room, and emptied ALOT of stuff from the box in my bedroom. Also emptied the last of the bits from the magazine holder that had been my main paper-storage unit before I decided to get rid of my kitchen's clutter corner and use a kitchen drawer instead.

Most of the stuff that has been sorted has been put away, filed or chucked, the rest is sitting in neat piles to be put in their final resting places:some stored in loft. Some school papers/awards/certificates etc to be put in relevant child's folder when I am watching the gogglebox [STRIKE]one night[/STRIKE] tonight. Some is cards/notes to me from the kids, and that also gets filed.

So,when I go to bed tonight, the plan is to have finished emptying the second box,and filed or binned contents. That would be the last actual piece of clutter removed from our bedroom (still lots of cupboards to be sorted, but no visible crates of clutter),and from the front room. That would be a result.

Off to walk to collect kids from school ( Saver-upper waves to very helpful FIL :rotfl:),when we come back,I might or might not get a chance to sort out kitchen plastics cupboard.

We didn't have the day we were expecting to have as DH had left something in town so was going to make a special trip in. I don't mind making mistakes but I do object to his grumpiness when he realises and it's the first thing he grumps about when I wake up. So I decided to go to town with him and DD, after my shower. My shower somehow turned into a sort-the--bathroom-cupboard out. We have decluttered 8 toiletry bags (yes, 8! where on earth did they come from - we don't buy them), some bath gels, a pile of tiles that were in there when we bought the house - now I've looked at them they aren't even matching any in the house, also a pair of scales, and other bits and pieces. We have 49 toilet rolls in the cupboard! That's an allowable stash. I am pleased with this declutter.

DD has had a wonderful time playing in the local soft play centre. We also checked out the cost of a new carpet for our bedroom - less than I thought so I am really excited because we'll be able to do it sooner rather than later. We have to paint the room first but we have bought the paint, and the paint for DS' room. We will get rid of our tatty wardrobe too - can't wait for the transformation.

Well I've done absolutely nothing this week, it annoyed me up until last night, now I just don't care:rotfl:

Started back to work and school on Monday and I am absolutely shattered, kids have been too, they've been in bed from 7.30 every night this week which is unusual for them. Usually by 8pm I'm fighting with them to get into bed, but I'm actually struggling to stop DD from sleeping in the afternoon which is not her at all:eek:
For whatever reason we're all shattered and LO is probably think what's going on here as daddy has been taking her to bed this week lol.

Off on Monday for Bank holiday so hopefully the 3 of us will catch up on obvious much needed sleep apparently lol, and hopefully I'll get some ore clearing out and finalising some things i.e putting pictures up on walls etc.
Only 1 more sleep till Friday :T

I've just wrote a list of things that will be done over the weekend. It's actually not that long thank god.

I'm going to be using up the wool/fabric that I have in the cupboard. Was going to buy a book in work from the bookman, its about making things like teddies, rabbits etc. however I saved myself £6 and photocopied the pages that were relevant to what I intend to make :o:whistle::shhh:

Will see how I go with these and put any finished products I possibly make into a bag for LO's stockings at Christmas, and then the rest will go to charity :)

Daughter has been going buck mad over these flaming Loom bands and making stuff left right and center. But her being her usual fussy self only wants certain colours and leaves the others, so I have used those up by making my own bracelets with her leftovers :rotfl: Will give these to the LO's in my class in work as they are all wanting them but are too young to make them. Any of those that I have left over after that will go to charity also :)
