I am pleased that DH did the craft thing that had turned into a chore. He has done an incredible job so I am delighted. It also means that 1 big cardboard box can leave the house in the morning.
The cakes are gone (out of the house, not eaten) and with them a tin that I don't want back.
Washing is hung up, presents are wrapped and gift tagged.
Half a bin of packaging, inner cardboard tubes and so on from the crafting has gone.
All this and still the main living area is one heck of a mess.
Family-wise, the day has degenerated into a couple of rows. 1 member is ignoring my text, 1 member has had a strop on me that is nothing to do with me, my mother has yelled at everyone and gone off in a huff. I feel sorry for them all in some ways but it's not a situation where there is going to be any middle ground.
Oh, and the toothpaste has gone.
A good day really in terms of getting things done, but I think it will not look better until the morning.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
New spare bed arrived this afternoon and the delivery men kindly took it upstairs for me. Drove round to our garage (over the road and round the corner ) and brought back my 2 small work tables so they will be assembled again tonight. Sewing machine will go up there next trip up and then I just have to manhandle my other machine up there and I have spaces in the living room :j
All this de-cluttering is making my life so much easier and I have to say Im much less fed -up. We have had to cancel our short break in April for our 35th anniversary as we cannot afford it but luckily hadn't paid the deposit. I told Oh I would be happy with a day out to Morecambe instead. to be honest its so stressful going away with him as he is that its a relief but dont tell him that
I know have an whole wide swathe of empty floor in my bedroom - all either sorted and moved to other room or empty and binned :T. Clothes hung or stacked in sons ex wardrobe and only my dressing gown on the back of my bedroom door.
Hope poorly people feel better soon and Whitewing sorry the family are driving you nuts xxxClearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
Great going, ginny and I'm sorry you're having a bit of a rubbish time atm, whitewing. Here's hoping harmony will break out all around you.
I had a bit of a wobble when disposing of the gorgeous (to me) gold cardboard square the cake came on. I turned it over, and it was silver on the other side. Double-gorgeousness. I so didn't trust myself not to hoard it that I scrunched it in half and put it in the bin. *wobble*
Oh, but it wasn't easy, my lovelies, it wasn't easy at all.:rotfl:
Today I have finished watching a rental DVD which is due back tomorrow, so that will be one unhuge thing off the premises, plus I have made a casserole from one of the whoopsies from the freezer, so it's thinning out in there. It's amazing how much you can put into a 50 litre tabletop freezer if you're really good at Freezer Tetris.
I have some UFOs in there, just one or two. Could it be stewed fruit or could it be something else entirely? Only time will tell.
Typed a couple of more pages of my project before work, slow and steady as she goes, I will keep pecking away at it until it's done and then I can shred the notes.
Oh, and I did get my hair cut before work so am now tidy and you can call me Shorn. That's Miss Shorn to you, lovely peeps.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I am really good at freezer tetris. Regrettably not so good at freezer labels
I sorted 2 kitchen cupboards - got rid of a couple of very out of date packets, some empty spice jars (why keep them? why?) and a tin that had "stuff" in. Stuff comprised of a few dregs of various dried fruits, pumpkin seeds, the odd nut. A few moments later, no stuff, no tin and a container of home made muesli :T
My sister bought me a new make up bag for chrimbo - I have actually transferred stuff over and binned the old one. "Tennis Shoe" syndrome worked, thanks GQI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
The 0xfam pile is in 0xfam. The hall floor is empty!
That's it folks. Sweet dreams.0 -

Hiya.
Long time, no check in.......:o
In recent weeks and days I've
got rid of shoes that hurt - yes, even new ones
jeans that I've shrunk out of
tops and shirts that I avoided wearing
scarves that resembled weird Möbius strips and I couldn't get the
hang of even though they were brand new
old batteries
old medicine containers
gave an old printer cartridge to charity
put postcards, cinema tickets, clippings and old photos in my scrapbook
and taken coats to the tailors to get them adjusted so that I can take them off the backs of chairs and hang them up when I'm not wearing them.
I've
filed away old wage slips after stapling the timesheets to them
filed my most recent mortgage statement
sorted my home and contents insurance
filed my bank statements
made an appointment for the meter guy to inspect my meters - not read them, just to see they're there and working properly
taken the most recent junk and scam mail to the city hall for trading standards
started the ball rolling to renew my passport - my only ID as I can't drive
replied to the solicitor dealing with my late father's estate and filed the most recent paperwork
replied to a series of 'wrong number' emails asking the senders in they've got alternative means of contacting their Gingernuttys if they could please do so. Instead of just deleting them and leaving the senders none the wiser.
unsubscribed to a number of email alerts/newsletters
and
sorted out a small pile of paper that needs shredding
I've
also kept on top of the laundry
gone through and filled in a 17 page PDR document for one job
made appointments for training sessions for the other job - honestly, I've got 4 days off in February (3 Sundays and 1 Saturday)
dyed my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes
tried to keep using the moisturisers so my skin feels a little better - some nights I lapse, but I'm getting through stuff
watched a load of online telly
listened to a lot of music
tried to keep on top of the housework
and in between, I've worked, slept and shopped.
I'm knackered.
I've still got to
return a heater to T*sc*,
take three more coats to the tailors (I've got to do stuff to a couple of them first),
get my hair cut again
make and go to a doctor's appointment
make and go to an asthma nurse appointment
make and go to an appointment for OH to sort out some booster jabs
and
wait on tenterhooks to see if I've been shortlisted for the permanent night shift job I've applied for. Three people applied for the job which closed on the 20th January and I've till heard nothing.....
I've got the first edition of Don Aslett's Clutter's Last Stand.
Although it's written for an American audience, it's understandable to us and still as relevant today as it was back in 1984. The second edition was 2005.
If anyone is interested in reading it, PM me your address and I'll send it off to you.
Yep. I'm decluttering a decluttering book.........:rotfl:
Look after yourselves.
*relurks* Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
:T OMG, gingernutty, I'm exhausted just reading all that. You've done loads and should be deservedly proud of yourself. Really hope the job news comes through and you get what you want.
I don't have to leave for work until 10.00 today so have some time to do a few bits. Tempting just to play on the web (my snotty inner teen can rebel if made to do housework before work-work) but I've decided to iron a few bits, get the clothes airer down and shove a vacuum around the place. Won't vacuum until a little later on, out of consideration for the neighbours as am in a thin-walled flat.
And I will interwebulate a bit as well, to make it seem less of a chore.
Today's plan is to go to work, drop in on a pal for about half an hour on the way home and do some more chores later. Most of my stuff is as-you-go type but occasionally you notice that the kitchen cupboard doors have got mucky and need to spend a little time.
I also need to have the stove out of it's slot, or as far out as it will go on the gas hose, as I lost a sprout down there the other week and there's probably some other debris as well. Will tie-in a vac and prolly wash the floor under there and the rest of the floor as well.
Cleaning in my kitchen is a pain in the arris as the whole room is only 6 ft square but it has just as many mess-makers as a properly-sized room. I did notice that the glass oven door had got mucky again on the inside so cleaned off 90% of that late last night before I got too bored and will finish the job properly later on.
Hokay, fine words butter no parsnips, going to iron. If VJsMum is reading, that's one shirt and about half-a-dozen hankies...........:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hi everybody, I read your posts regularly but haven't posted in awhile. I have finally over the last month been selling stuff on ebay again and have managed to shift quite a bit, which is really good news. Still have a number of auctions running but have packed all that stuff neatly into the spare bedroom today and will just get it out if it sells.
This morning, I have cleaned the kitchen and put everything back where it should go. Just need to tackle the conservatory now, which is a general dumping ground and downstairs will be straight.
Then this weekend the aim is to do some more decluttering and see what else is for the charity shop or ebay. I don't have much stuff for the bin these days as have got good at putting anything broken straight where it needs to go, which is out the door. x0 -
Not got much done the last few days. Still very down about the job situation. I sent an email on Tuesday morning asking why I hadn't been selected for interview and still not received a reply.
I'm thinking of cutting back on my voluntary work and/or looking at volunteering for other organisations. I've made a few enquiries this week and am waiting to hear.
I did put one charity bag of clothes and towels out and got rid of a lot of out of date paperwork. However, I've been driving a bag of books and a box of bric a brac round all week with the intention of dropping it off at a charity shop and still not done it.
No voluntary works stints at all next week, which is unusual. I need to get back into decluttering mode and also apply for some jobs - I've been licking my wounds for long enough now.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
